NINJA GAIDEN 4 Standard Edition PlayStation 5

I am not that good at difficult games. I used to be but now I’m older and don’t have the time or reflexes for them. I was hesitant to get this but I am a big fan of the series and also finished Wukong recently and loved it so gave it a go. The best thing for me is this game has an incredible degree of difficulty settings. I put all the Hero mode help on to start and was enjoying the game already. It’s very cool and stylish. Awesome graphics and combat. Then I realized something….it felt…kinda easy. I did the unthinkable. I bumped the difficulty up to normal….and I realized this whole time I was getting better at the game. I was learning. I finished a whole chapter…then another….then I defeated a boss!! Now, I don’t know if I’ll continue playing on Normal, it all depends on how I progress. I may bump it down but keep the auto block and heal off as a happy medium. That said, the game is awesome and. This game is a departure from prior Ninja Gaiden games in some ways. The music is more rock/metal-oriented, similar to something like Devil May Cry 5. It also takes place in a generally more futuristic setting. Ryu is no longer the main character (though you can unlock and play as him as you progress) and the combat has been retooled somewhat, but the core combat that made previous Ninja Gaiden games so legendary is excellently executed here by Platinum Games. The spirit of Ninja Gaiden is here in full effect—from the ultra violent, high octane action to the perfection chasing, score-focused challenges and leaderboards. This game is clearly designed to be highly replayable as you aim for higher rankings in every mission across the difficulty modes. Speaking of difficulty... this game has it! The Normal difficulty mode challenged me more than Normal on any previous entry, and I absolutely loved it. There's plenty of struggle to be overcame here and it makes for a highly rewarding experience as you progress. I think fans of the series will find this entry highly engaging, despite some changes to the formula. Read more

This game is a fast paced fantastic time. The music in this game is great completely different from the other games in the series but fitting of the raven clan protagonist. The boss battles are alot of fun and at time feel very cinematic. I had a few camera issues but it never got in the way of my experience. The other thing I would have to say is that this game may not be as hard as NG1 OR 2 (original Xbox 360 version). But strikes a perfect balance of being hard yet approachable to new comers with its wide range of combos and new artillery. Overall I personally had a fantastic time and it's going onto my top 10 favorite games of the year. Read more

Absolutely brutal. The combat is fast, fluid, and super satisfying. I loved how the new moves feel, and the difficulty is perfect: challenging but addictive. If you love pure action games, this is a must-have for your collection. 100% recommended! Read more
