Customers say

Customers find this blender excellent for smoothies, particularly with frozen fruit, and appreciate its powerful motor that crushes ice like it's nothing. The blender is easy to use and clean, with customers noting they can remove the blade for thorough cleaning. They consider it worth the price, and one customer mentions it handles hummus well.

Worth every penny - the product AND the customer service!

Love it. Worth it. Recommend it - highly. Pros/cons below, as well as additional information about our experience. (FYI, this blender is also the top-rated blender under $100 on consumer search.) Pros: - Easy to assembly/disassemble (before/after cleaning) - EASY cleaning - Very powerful - Sturdy - Durable Cons: - Ours doesn't have suction cups on the bottom (ours is the NJ600), although other models do My husband and I use this blender *at least* once EVERY SINGLE DAY, often several times a day. We mainly use it for smoothies, but also use it regularly for other food items (sauces, purees, etc.). We have had it for almost 9 months now, and it's still as awesome as the first day. It crushes ice like it's nothing, which is key when you're making smoothies. Clean up is so easy, it's ridiculous. After using it, we rinse it out; then fill it about 1/3 with soapy water and run it for about 30 seconds to a minute; then quickly run a scrub brush over all of the parts. Done. There are no teeny nooks or crannies that you have to try and clean (while trying to not cut yourself with the blades in the process). Clean up of the base is even easier - just a simple swipe of a paper towel; no raised buttons to get in the way. The fact that the blades are (easily) removable makes it better than 99% of the other blenders out there. We also love that there's a pour spout at the top - you can either pour stuff out of it (obviously), or add things to the blender while it's on. There are 3 speeds, and a pulse option (the pulse option is basically high-speed). You can stop the blending option by either pressing the number button again, or just pressing power. The only complaint we have is that it sometimes travels while it's on. Some models have suction cups on the feet to help with this; ours doesn't. But other than that, this is pretty much the perfect blender. I would highly recommend it, especially for the price. Bonus! *EXCELLENT* customer service. The rubber seal around the lid started coming off (it looked/felt like it was melting), and was leaving rubber residue on the inside of the pitcher and on our drying mat (even though we hand-wash it 99% of the time). I called customer service, and they offered to send me a new lid and pitcher at no cost, to arrive in only 3-5 business days. The customer service representative was very polite, professional, and attentive. The call lasted all of 5 minutes. I used to train customer service representatives (in a call center, even), and was highly impressed. Great company. I would definitely purchase other items from them in the future. (Side note: We also own a Ninja stick blender [came with a food processor attachment, as well], and LOVE it.) Read more

don't let the negative reviews fool you

MasterBlasterJanuary 8, 2014

If you average Joe consumer - like most of us here on Amazon and looking for a superb blender look no further. Trust me I thought of buying another el-cheapo blender to get by. Heck you can buy 3 for the price of this Ninja but I tell you what you will inevitably be replacing those cheapo's within a year but not the Ninja. What I love: The top fits snugly and with the locking / clamp top it will never fly over from blending / vibration. The canister actually clicks / locks onto the base providing a solid connection to the motor assembly (no more stripped out gears). The blades are extremely sharp and this thing destroys everything I've put in it! The unit doesn't walk all over the countertop when its on. It's also much quieter than my last blender. The corner of the top flips up making it easy to pour. Performance: Top notch. I use it for blending protein shakes and smoothies. Now lets be realistic here - there is a lot of back-n-forth in the reviews comparing this product to the Vitamix. The Ninja does a great job bridging the gap between your $30 department store blender and the $1000 commercial ones. It won't blend buttery smooth like yogurt. It will however blend smoother than any $30 or $50 blender out there and it'll likely keep doing it for years to come. I was forced to use crushed ice from my fridge dispenser with my previous blender - now I throw in full size cubes and the Ninja disintegrates them in seconds. The container is huge, fit and function is exceptional, performance is top notch. Highly recommended. As others have noted - I'd too recommend NOT to hand wash the blades - don't even attempt it. Handling this thing is like wielding some ancient medieval weapon. Instead pour out your mixture, rinse once, fill half way with warm water and a very small amount of soap. Put the unit back together and turn it back on for 30 seconds or so, disassemble, rinse the top and blades, then if need be finish cleaning the inside container with a sponge or rag. Read more

You can make LOTS of smoothie

CustomerJanuary 20, 2014

Just got this a couple weeks ago, and so far, it's worked fine. There are reviews out there that complain about this blender not shredding the greens fine enough and getting chunks of lettuce when you blend up the smoothie. And that's absolutely true. It does help to put some liquid (I use almond milk) in with all your greens and blend those first before you put anything else in there, and then the kale/lettuce/spinach dices up finer. My favorite thing about this blender is the 9 cup capacity, so it's easier to blend up a lot of smoothie at once--great time saver! My old Hamilton Beach blender was cheap and was developing cracks in the hard plastic pitcher from a couple years of making smoothies. The motor would also smell hot whenever we put frozen fruit in it, and would often leak black oil. So it definitely wasn't made for frozen things. I was disappointed that the Ninja didn't dice the greens a little finer. Also, when I add the frozen fruit, the motor smells hot when I try to blend it. The other night i added about 1 1/2 cups of frozen fruit, and it took several tries for me to get it all blended up. I had to open up the blender and mix the frozen fruit around at least three times, and I was hoping that the Ninja could handle that, especially because they market themselves as being as good as a high-end blender. I'm not that impressed. However, as I said, the capacity is awesome, and it seems adequate in other ways. Certainly much better than my old cheap one. Read more
