PROS - Material - Construction - Zippers (stiff at first but I have other bags with these. They get easier) - Storage space - Versatility - Design CONS - Top handle does not stick up enough to be useful. It's so low that your knuckles dig into the zippers and it crushes your fingers. Would have be better with some elastic so that it stretches out more - The shoulder strap mechanism that shortens and extends it just sticks and I have to fight with it. Not like what I saw in the video of it simply sliding up and down. - Laptop pocket is for up to 15" and they mean it. 15.9 is a complete no go. Why did I give it 5 stars? Because it's worth it! The CONS listed above don't impact that score. Sure the handle issue is real and should be addressed but I'm not reducing the score by 20% because of a handle that I will rarely use. The magnetic straps do twist around quite a bit (the nature of a free swinging strap mechanism). But they're magnetic! Bonus points for being awesome. If they twist up, I actually like popping them off and hearing them click back on. But here is the real deal. The review above me said it doesn't stand up and falls over. It's not a so I'm not sure what that's about. The bag stands up! Laptop, no laptop, whatever! I toss it on the floor in the office and it's planted like a brick! Just got the Nomatic messenger for Black Friday. I read all the reviews and comments and felt obliged to comment that most of the complaints (which were already minor) have been addressed. The zippers work well. The glasses compartment now has a hard case. The water bottle compartment has a magnetic snap back system. Congrats Nomatic on listening to your customers! Your product is truly improved, therefore better than I expected and is, by far the best messenger bag I have ever bought. Incredibly I switched from the Thule messenger bag that is much larger (almost too large for daily use) and the Nomatic fits more items! I couldn’t believe it. After two trips I can say I absolutely love this bag. It has a compartment for everything and is so well thought out for a modern bag wheather on your shoulder or slipped on to your suitcase handle. The zippers are tight and high quality, and I was amazed how well it accommodated my gaggle of electronics, etc. I've carried a Tumi for years but I am a big convert to this bag. I want to start by saying this bag is great. Everything they showed it can do is completely accurate. I love the added features I never thought about. For example the retractable key. I work at a job that uses a key fob to open the door. I just pull it out to open the door............and boom, I’m in. Wonderful product definitely waterproof. Only thing is they should decrease the cost by a lot. A normal $40 bag will last longer. DO NOT GET IT, save your money!!!! I rated it low, because durability is POOR! On the 30th day the magnet buckle for the arm strap popped off. The actual connection there is built poorly. I sent an email over a week ago to ask about assurances on that part not breaking again and no response. I spent a lot of money on this bag and it can only last 30 days is ridiculous. I then bought a new bag since I was still in the 30 day window. The next bag lasted 6 months before the zipper broke on it. This bag is beautifully made if it’s everything I want and would be the perfect bag except for the stupid strap. The magnetic attachment is really cool when it works. About once a week it will randomly fail after I’ve put it on and as I’m leaving, it will just disconnect on one side and drop my bag to the ground. Many times I’ve been able to grab it in time but recently I broke my laptop because of the failure. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover this until after the return window was over and so I’m stuck with a bag that I can’t trust. Read more

Over the last few weeks I have ordered an array of bags in an attempt to find a laptop messenger to replace my backpack. Herschel, alpaka, travelpro, and nomatic. The smaller nomatic was pretty great, even had an expansion zip. However it was still slightly too small for laptop, miscellaneous office related items, and a compression jacket. After packing this model, the larger nomatic, it has the space. Unfortunately, that is it. There is no expansion zip to gain a little bit of flex for the zippers. The luggage handle pass through is so small, and with it packed I’m not sure how it could fit over anything. The smaller version has a less rigid pass through with a zipper on the bottom so it could be a pocket if you needed. My main goals were to have at least one RFID blocking pocket, room for a laptop, jacket, various cords, chargers, 1/4” worth of documents or so, tourniquet, water bottle, keyboard/mouse, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. While this bag does fit everything, tech organizer pouches almost make things less accessible. Quality is great. Empty weight is nice. Shoulder strap and bag padding are quality. Replaceable Velcro insert is backed with a thin sheet of poly to keep it rigid, it’s just ok. For $299 it doesn’t feel like a bad purchase, but it lacks basic flexibility I was hoping for. Read more
