I started slow, and bought the barbell/dumbbell set when it was on sale (which happens occasionally) for $199. Then I bought the 0.5lbs to be able to refine and adjust my lifting. I’m in a progressive overload dumbbell at home workout program. As I’ve gotten stronger over the last 3 months I added a kettlebell, then a second. I added the 1.5lbs, 3lbs, 5lbs and now 7.5lbs. I have the EZ up metal bar, and a few of the small metal handle pieces. Buy the female end ones so your dumbbells are flat on the end and you can use the 2lbs that comes in the OG set (these don’t have “holes” on both sides), or they won’t be able to attach and you’ll waste 4lbs of weight. I have duplicates of the heavier plates. What I love about this system: I can progressively overload by adding1lbs at a time, which is SO much better than other systems that bring you up 5lbs at a time. As a woman building muscle requires pushing the weight, but often upper body can’t make a 5lbs jump, so the customization of these dumbbells is absolutely genius. As an added bonus they are beautiful and go on like butter. Yes, they are $$$$ I spent about $1k+ on what I have so far, but spread out over several months has made it easier to tolerate.
