I’m a Lactation Consultant and have been suggesting Sunflower Seed Lecithin for moms for many years. I send the picture because many moms aren’t familiar with it. It is helpful for relieving plugged ducts, mastitis, easing pumping, especially for working moms, exclusively pumping moms, and moms who donate milk to a milk bank. Moms tell me they start seeing the benefits in about 2 days but it increases effectiveness over the next couple of days. It is helpful for babies who have trouble emptying the breast such as preemies, or other babies who need some extra help. Sunflower Seed Lecithin is a healthy fat made from sunflower seeds. It makes the milk ducts less sticky and seems to help with removing the hind milk as the breast becomes more empty. None of the moms I have worked with have mentioned any negative results. Read more

After exclusively pumping for 6 months, I can attest to the effectiveness of this supplement! If I take it routinely with breakfast, my supply is 3 ounces higher than it is when I slack and stop taking it. I have not had a single clog since adding it to my routine. Highly recommend! Read more

I have an oversupply and I try to take two every day. I feel like it really helps prevent clogged ducts. I haven’t had mastitis once, but get clogged ducts at least once a week and these help take it away immediately. Take 4 for clogs. Read more

This sunflower lecithin supplement from NOW Foods is a solid, reliable product. The softgels are easy to swallow, and I appreciate that it’s soy-free and non-GMO, which was important to me. I noticed it helped with overall comfort and consistency when using it regularly, and the large bottle size offers good value for the price. The only downside is that the capsules are a bit large, which may be inconvenient for some people, and results weren’t immediate—it took some time to notice benefits. Still, the quality is good, the brand is trustworthy, and it does what it’s supposed to do. Overall, I’m happy with it and would consider repurchasing. Read more

I use this product to keep mastitis and milk blebs at bay. When I stop taking this supplement I get sick so I have it on auto ship. For those looking on how to dose this item, you can take one pill at a time 2-3 times a day to properly maintain clear ducts. It says 2 pills per serving but that’s just for higher doses etc. Read more

First-time mom, for the first 4 months of my baby's life, my breasts were SO tender from breastfeeding. I would develop blocked milk ducts for seemingly no reason - I tried everything from massaging my breasts while pumping, massaging while taking hot showers, wearing loose clothing, sleeping solely on my back, you name it. It got to the point where I'd be in so much discomfort or pain that I would avoid holding my baby (as she'd often inadvertently hurt me) and I'd just hole up in my house. I finally looked into home remedies and found out that massaging and using heat is outdated advice and that I should be minimally massaging and using ICE rather than heat. I also saw that taking Sunflower Lecithin could help, so I immediately ordered a bottle. After taking it daily for a week, I was no longer getting blocked ducts, and I haven't had any since (it's been a month now). I can finally just live my life rather than living in fear that I'll be uncomfortable. I highly recommend this to all breastfeeding mothers if they're going through the same thing I did, just double-check with your OB/GP if it's right for you! Read more
