I don’t usually reach for matte foundations, and this one pretty much confirmed why. It’s not bad, but it does lean a little dry on me, especially around areas where my skin isn’t perfectly smooth. I can make it work with good prep underneath, but it’s not the kind of formula I can throw on without thinking about it. That said, the packaging is actually really nice. The bottle feels sturdy, and I really like how the product dispenses. It’s easy to control, doesn’t splatter or leak, and makes it simple to get just the amount you want without wasting product. That alone made the experience feel better than expected. Coverage is buildable and looks decent once it’s on, just more flat and matte than I personally prefer. It doesn’t immediately look cakey, but on my skin it definitely benefits from a hydrating primer or a dewy base underneath to balance it out. Overall, I think this would work better for someone who truly likes a matte finish or has oilier skin. For me it’s okay, usable, and nicely packaged, just not a go-to formula I’d reach for every day. I’ve been using the NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Make ’Em Wonder Liquid Foundation (Shade 26 Honey) and overall, I enjoy the formula, but it does have a few drawbacks. The coverage is definitely a highlight. It applies smoothly and offers medium coverage that is easily buildable to full without looking heavy or cakey. The soft matte finish looks great on the skin and wears well throughout the day. That said, I did notice that it oxidizes slightly after application, so I recommend keeping that in mind when choosing your shade. My main issue is that it is not transfer proof. Even after setting with powder, it still transfers, which was disappointing for a foundation marketed as long-wear. $16 when ordered. $16 now. I was not sure what to expect when I ordered this. Foundations can be very hit or miss with me. I am over 50 and have extremely pale olive skin. My skin tends to be on the dry side, so a soft matte buildable foundation can look absolutely horrible on me. Also, there was no color option for me as a Vine member so I had no idea what color I would be getting. They ended up sending me 05 Fair ivory. I am pleasantly surprised by how well this blends into the skin. It is wonderfully fluid, and I find that I can get a good application even with my fingers. When testing foundations I like to test with both a brush and my fingers. I don't tend to use sponges that much. It's very quick to apply, it distributes evenly in a Schererville of color that if you don't know it's there you don't really see it. It just makes your skin look better. Even though my skin does have the olive undertone and I normally have to add a little bit of a green to liquid foundations, this is not coming off badly. It appears to be a true neutral. Which makes me very happy because that means I'm actually going to be able to use this foundation for more than a review. I find that it looks really nice on my skin. This is something I would throw on and just put a little bit of powder over and I am good. It lets your natural Beauty shine through. I am not someone who builds up foundations, I just don't like the look so I'm not going to comment on that because I don't think it would be accurate for those who actually do build up their foundations. I find that this lasted well. And with my skin prepped properly it does not dry it out. 16 bucks for a drugstore foundation is a bit much to me. I know that they have gotten more expensive. This is from the next professional line so I'm guessing that is why it is priced like that. If I was doing a blind test review I would guess that this is not drugstore necessarily. So I'm very pleased with it. It did not end up turning orange over time and it didn't break apart in an ugly way on my skin. I think for someone who likes a natural or clean makeup look or just enjoys having an elegant but not obvious foundation look would really enjoy this. I will take a photograph of it on my hand without any moisturizer. And my hands are very dry. You're not going to be able to see where it is. And that is perfect for me.
