Occidental Leather Big Oxy Fastener Bag - 10 Pockets Tool Holders - Made in USA

I have been a carpenter for over 30 years and have recently worn out my first set of Oxy bags that I have had for 20+ years. So I recently purchased another 2 new bags. the Oxy 2 pouch fastener bag with the tape holder on the left side and the right handed tool pouch along with the strong hold belt system. Now It's not that I'm unhappy with my purchase, I was looking for a bag with another pocket for small fasteners like trim nails and trim screws. That's why I ordered this bag. Now I am 5' 9" and weigh about 168 lbs and bag is really big. So big it takes up most of the left side of the strong hold belt between the belt loops and buckle. It also hangs almost to my knees. I decided to return just because I feel that it would be very cumbersome. It probably would work for a 6' tall person. It is a well built bag and top quality leather. It was just to big to me. I had the privilege of ordering 3 different sets of oxy framer's rigs and the big oxy was one of them. I'm a big guy and do all sorts of carpentry projects, not just framing all the time. I was looking for something that would hold at least 3 different types of fasteners, a impact drill, and assorted hand tools because I never know what I'll need to carry from day to day, and I hate going back to my truck if its avoidable. I sent the big oxy set back, but it was a VERY difficult choice. Just too big for my liking, but a quality product. Love the extra pouch behind the tape holder. Without the clip, the 30' Fatmax fits like a glove, and I believe you could easily "train" the holder to except a 35 footer if you needed to. The round bottom design is something I wish Occidental Leather would try on some of the smaller rigs, what a difference this makes. I loved the big oxy set, but it was a little too big for my liking. Thirty years wood framing. If I had bought these bags in '88, occasionally cleaned them with some saddle soap and treated them with conditioning oil, I'd no doubt still be wearing them. They're Goldilocks size and beautiful. They're like the best pair of boots you could buy, because in the long run, less expensive and more comfortable. Every tool and fastener in the correct place. This bag is very well made. I can't speak to the longevity as I only just started using it. As with all bags you will need to choose one with features that suit your specific job. At times this bag was exactly what I need on the job but as the job progressed I needed different pocket arrangements to be in an "optimum" work mode. tool bag has enough space for numerous /all kinds of tools . what i like about it is the size of pockets , deep enough that your tools wont fall out of and no struggle. Avoided spending the money for years. Too many tool bags later, wish I hadn't. The quality is outstanding. They are heavier and will hold a lot of tools. Have to be careful to loading up too much for too long, but that useful aspect can't be beat when you need it. The tape holder works better than I thought it would. Read more
