Heavy duty feeling under your feet with the ridges in the carpet if you were wanting to wipe your feet on them, or just have a door mat no difference or reason not to go with these, lay flat and feel good would recommend. The lower part that isn't carpet the part on the ground doesn't seem to have a lot of heavy weight to it so isn't just heavy rubber with a carpet on it, it is more of a soft rubber or whatever. If you wanted something super heavy duty maybe read other reviews not sure if this going to be for you it has no grip on the bottom either but so far no sliding, not really sure if you need grip or its light weight design that it appears to have would be an issue. So far no complaints been about a month of use. So you can't just kick it around on the floor but you can kind of slide it if you try hard enough, no danger of it slipping away right now, not sure if you have a rainy porch if it will remain in place or be able to slip away stepping out of the door since no grip and somewhat light weight on the bottom side. Perfect for my back and garage doors! Heavy-duty and waterproof, they trap dirt and moisture really well. Easy to clean and look great — a simple upgrade that works exactly as advertised. Takes some time for it to lay flat as it's shipped rolled up but doesn't affect the overall color of the mat.
