Old Friend Mens Romeo Slipper

My last pair of slippers were well broken in and felt great, but the lining was worn out and they no longer offered any arch support. I bought a pair of these based on a friends recommendation and these are really high quality slippers. The fleece lining is very soft. I bought them in the summer and the slippers are quite warm, I'm sure the warmth will be welcome in the winter. Size wise I bought a pair one size larger than my feet as I do with most slippers. For me, slippers tend to be tight until they are broken in and these are no different. I also find the arch support a nice relief as I wear these out to the grill or into the yard for a quick errand. The fit is right in keeping with my normal shoe-size. The construction and materials are of obvious good quality. I expect them to wear well for a long time, and there's only two small quibbles I have with the design. First, the insides of the elastic flex inserts (the things on the side that flex when putting them on) have their heavy duty seams rubbing through the furry insides. They're VERY noticeable though you eventually get used to it: still, a design flaw in my opinion. Second, the upper edges of the shoe opening are a bit low for secure comfort. They should come up at least another half inch to make it feel like the slipper is gripping your foot better instead of so low that you wonder if your feet are going to come right out of the thing. I like them. I feel like they're so well made that I'll have these around for longer than I've got life left. However, for the sixty-plus dollars they cost? I expected a bit more. I have been wearing this style for several years now. I will only buy this style as long as they are on the Market. The fur keeps my feet warm and dry. Still comfortable in Summer. I like that they don't have an arch support. I wear them all day sometimes working from home. Minimal odor. I have soaked older pairs in bleach, but only after a few years of wearing almost daily. Not counting wrong size purchases, this was my 3rd attempt to replace my previous pair of Old Friends. I first tried LL Bean (because I had a coupon), and then a different pair of Old Friends. THe LL Bean's were a good fit but the heel section was too wide and kept slipping over my heel and going sideways. The 2nd pair of OF's were not the right size, but I knew they would have a simlar problem to the Bean's and I didn't want to deal with laces. I landed on the Romeo and I couldn't be happier. Ample padding, non-slip sole, and elastic gathers the heel to the fore-foot, allowing for a perfect fit that is easy to get on and off, hands-free. Read more

Through the years have purchased more than a dozen pairs for all the men in my life. Became a staple in all their lives and none can due without these wonderful slipper/shoes. Not only comfortable and warm but so attractive to the eye. People are always stopping and asking where these were purchased.
