Marketing materials. I have found just a few to be misleading or over-blown. Not the case with this tripod! Take a look at my photos and you will see a couple of very interesting featurs of this tripod. It can suspend the phone from the front of my monitor! This surprised me. That allows the phone to be a webcam! I have 2 other mini-tripod things and that is a completely unique feature. Another very unique feature is its ability to twist. One photo shows it on a table with the phone twisted sideways about 30 deg. Another very unique feature. That photo also shows the little "hook" that enables it to hang on the front of my monitor. It also functions very well as a camera grip. It folds in 3 main sections and I find it very easy to hold. Since it unfolds to be so long it is easy to hold at eye level. Holding the phone steady for videos is easier and of course, placing it on a table is the easiest for video calls. The design and engineering is pretty impressive. Lots of ways of securing a phone. Lots and lots and lots of different phone angles can be accomplished. Haven't used the magnetic base yet but suspect that will also be very handy. All the hinges and pivots are stiff so there is no inclination for the phone to sag out of position. And I'm using a 16 Pro Max, which is the largest and heaviest iPhone. The magnet is strong so holds the phone securely there too. I just cannot report any defects, flaws, or shortcomings. The fit and finish is impressive. This is the device to beat and that will be tough with this load of features and capabilities. Would love to give it 6 stars since it seems to be priced equivalent to less feature-rich products. Sure is a delight to be able to apprecaite good design and engineering! A good value. ---- This item was made available for testing and evaluation. Pros: Practical; handy; versatile; light weight Cons: Have to purchase separately the Arca-Swiss plate mentioned in the description pictures for use on a tripod This is a darn versatile tool for use with a cell phone. Reminds me of Transformers. I admire the designers of such tools and toys! I hike, backpack and camp quite a bit. Although I most often use my 35mm mirrorless camera, there are times when the cell phone camera comes in handy. This “tool” makes the cell phone camera all the more handy. Using the supplied carabiner, it attaches easily to a backpack, belt loop or slip it around your neck with a lanyard. No more balancing your phone on a rock, the ground or a tree branch. Sitting around the campfire making Smores, cooking, enjoying a drink? Use this for still pictures or a video. Heck, use it anywhere on the trail. The versatility is amazing: as a tripod; too, it swivels 360 degrees, swivels up, down & to the side; for selfies; an easel stand, just think outside the box for its uses. Moreover, when near anything metal, you have the magnetic capability to use for holding the tripod and your cell phone. Lastly, the Omoton comes with 2 separate magnets, an oval donut shaped one and a rectangular one which can be used on your cell phone and/or its case as is necessary. See picture. All that said, 3 small disappointments. First, for easy use on a tripod in order to avoid having to screw it on each time, you’ll need to purchase the Arca-Swiss plate mentioned and shown in the pictures. My tripod (see picture) has a snap in quick release plate purchased separately for ease of attaching/releasing my mirrorless camera, no screwing is necessary. I would have to buy the Arca-Swiss plate in order to use the Omoton thus not having to screw the Omoton on but only after removing my plate. Second, one of the two videos shows a different model, earlier model or a subsequent model, but not the model I have. The video shows a “clip-on” version where you can clip the tool onto a counter or other edged surface. No such capability with mine. Third and last, the supplied magnets - - if and when I get another cell phone or case, where can I get magnets for the new cell phone and/or case? Bottomline: In my view a most versatile and worthwhile “tool” regardless of the environment you find yourself in. Read more
