Update #4 - 6 months later: it has continued to work, has been taken on several trips with no problems, still fun to use, and probably brushes better than I would without the feedback from the app. Update #3 - it has kept working fine for a month. Amazing that it can track which of the 16 zone is being brushed, not nearly perfect but good enough. The app on the phone is useful enough to keep using every days, kind of tricky to finish the side and top zones, still gamelike and engaging. Back to 5 stars. Update #2 - emailed the company a few times. Finally got the reset button to work right after about 20 attempts, and it works again for now. No secret trick, except the button doesn’t move. So I'm back to enthused about the unique capabilities of this toothbrush. Update #1 - Loved it for 5 days, as described below, but then the software quit working. Somehow the unit is no longer connected to the phone app. I've spent an hour so far searching YouTube videos and the instructions, making no progress. The reset button at the back is the worst input device I've encountered in a long time, and all the instructions are complicated and unclear. I'll modify this review if I ever get this $350 device back to working as it should. Cost is outrageous, but performance is great. A gyroscope allows the toothbrush to know which of 16 zones is being brushed (top or bottom, inside or outside, left right or middle, and the tops of the back zones) to track whether each zone gets its share of time. The graphic on the app on the phone (which I hold in the other hand) shows the progress. The ability to track history of brushing performance effectively gamifies the experience - I actually look forward to brushing at the moment. In six years, it will probably get 2000 uses, so 20 cents is not so frivolous, and tooth and gum work prevented has some value. Read more

The Oral B iO-10 is the best Oral B electric toothbrush I have used, and I have been using their products for years. I have a few sensitive teeth & areas of gum recession. Oral B has designed a sensitive toothbrush head and this handle has a sensitive setting. For the first time, I am consistently doing a better job using less pressure while brushing. I like the feedback from the Oral B app on my iPhone. I use the app every time I brush. Over several weeks, my technique has become consistently using less pressure and I get great feedback from the app. My teeth feel like I have just had my teeth cleaned by a hygienist and over the weeks of using this product I am not showing any build up of plaque, which an improvement. My daughter needed a new electric toothbrush, so I gifted her an Oral B iO 7. She let us know she loved it, it was such an improvement over her previous Oral B handle, which was pre the iO version. When I decided to purchase a new handle for me, I did more research and discovered the iO 10. It was expensive compared to the iO 7, but I have been very happy with this product. I purchased the iO 9 for my husband. I consider the handle a personal care product, so i purchase a handle for each of us. The iO 9 seems to have the same features as the iO 10, and does cost significantly less. We are each happy with these 3 different models of the iO handles. The iO tooth brush heads are expensive, but I like them. The battery life goes down quickly, so I keep it charging. It has a tongue brushing mode, and several other settings to individualize the handle to your preferences. It is important to read the instructions and rinse the handle & tooth brush head as directed. I always rinse them, as directed by the Oral B directions, and have not had any build up dried toothpaste that a YouTube reviewer had a problem with. Overall, this is the best electric toothbrush I have ever used. I am very careful and consistent with oral care. I enjoy using this product and my oral health has improved. Read more

I was never a fan of prior electric toothbrushes so stayed away for years. But decided to try this and I really like the rotating heads rather than sonic vibrating ones. Teeth feel a lot cleaner. Teaching which part of the mouth I have brushed “enough” is good but if you turn your head the unit doesn’t recognize you are in the same spot. So it miscalculates time spent in a particular area. But if you keep your head facing a single direction, then it is fine. Regardless, I know I cover all areas well and maybe longer than “I need” so the monitoring isn’t really of much use for me or most people. Not sure there is much difference between modes such as daily clean and whitening. They are the only ones I have tried. Works well, but not sure if difference is more a gimmick. Regardless, I love the product. Battery lasts quite a while, but the one time I didn’t charge it for a while it only lasted less than a week. Maybe modes affect it, but I also brush my teeth longer than 3 minutes and 3+ times per day. So you need to factor in your habits to really know how long it will last for you. Read more
