I lived in South Korea for a number of years. Sometimes, rice-based food would get burned to the bottom of my/our bowl. When this happened, sometimes we got some hot water from a kettle poured for us into the bowl and the rice came up. It was stirred around then poured into cups to drink. It was lovely. We called it "burnt rice water" for lack of a better term. I like it, especially in cooler temperatures. This tea reminds me of that drink, but this tea is smoother and more delightful. I love it! I liked that it has a best by date, too. Haha, I doubt it will still be around anywhere near that date. It also, and much more, reminds me of my favorite drink I had served cold at our favorite local coffee shop in Korea. I never knew what was in it, just that I loved it. I think it came hot, too, but the iced version was almost like a slushy yet it was very similar in flavor to this tea. Read more

This tea has an interesting flavor, it literally tastes like burned rice. But surprisingly, it's not bad after adding a little bit of sweetener! There are no instructions on the bag, so I just cold brewed it the way I would with regular green tea and it turned out great. The flavor is mild, so this isn't for you if you prefer a stronger flavor. $15 for 10 bags isn't worth it though in my opinion, that same price gets you more tea bags from another brand on amazon. Very umami flavor. Very rich and full. Difficult to explain, but after the robust initial flavor, there is a light, almost sweet after taste. Very good tea. Read more
These Matcha Brown Rice tea bags give a very light and soft tasting tea. I really like it over ice. I used to use a lot of flavor packets in my water and have found that drinking this tea quite watered down and over a ton of ice is super refreshing. They arrive packaged in a resealable bag and the bags are not individually sealed. If you are looking for a deep and rich flavor I don't believe these bags will work out well for you. If you like a light and soothing drink of hot tea I think these will be perfect for you. Also try it over ice! Read more
As this Japanese Matcha Brown Rice tea blend is from Kyushu, Japan, they are known for having sweeter notes in their tea so I was expecting this. While I did not exactly find the matcha to be carrying a sweeter flavor, it might be due to the brown rice having an overpowering flavor. The brown rice mixed into the matcha created a toasty taste that is similar to an Korean rice tea I had in the past. The taste is quite good and brings back great memories. The matcha has a subtle grassy flavor and adds umami to the tea, creating a wonderful brew. There are no instructions on the packaging so I did my usual brew time and temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes and it came out to be a great brew. The tannins did not release too much and there was very little astringency. Read more
This Organic Japanese Matcha Brown Rice Tea (Matcha Genmai-Cha) 10 Tea Bags by Tea Kitamura is truly outstanding. I love brown rice tea but have never had it with matcha before - what a great cup of tea! The matcha was superfine and disappeared into the cup without being gritty or settling out and the rich taste of the genmai-cha is such an excellent high wuality tea - absolutely delicious. I brewed at 175* and it was perfect! Read more
It tastes warm and welcoming! The scent and flavor of the roasted rice is very strong :) The matcha fills in the gaps. It’s not very bitter, but it’s got flavor. I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s strong, but you can totally taste it. It’s a very nice genmai. It’s a wonderfully cosy flavor. I love the way the brown rice floats to the top in the tea bag. It looks so cute. After I had half of it plain, I had the other half with sugar. The sugar made the tea just a tiny bit thicker. I like that :) It comes in a resealable foil and plastic? bag. The tea bags are the pyramid kind and they come with an extra long string. The expiration? best buy date? on my bag is November 2025. The matcha in the tea bags makes for a lot of green dust. Good stuff! Much recommend :) Read more
