Let me preface this review by saying I have been golfing for over 50 years. In that time, I have played with a lot of different makes of iron. The Intercept irons look and feel as good as top of the line clubs. I bought these irons because I have back issues, and I thought the one length irons would help that. I do like the extra length of the 8 thru gap wedge and the extra distance when I hit them. The ball feels great coming off the club face of all the irons. I don't particularly like the length of the 5 and 6 iron and the distance I've lost with them. I would say that someone younger and without back issues wouldn't lose any distance. Took me a couple of rounds to fully adjust, but these clubs have knocked off a solid 10 strokes per 18-holes. (I play all of the tees, so hard to say exactly.) I used to shoot mid to low 90s on a good day; 100+ on a bad day. Since switching, my WORST 18 hole score is an 88 from the blue tees. All scores have been 85 - 88. I've never hit so many pure shots before. Accuracy is great. I use JumboMax XL STR8 Tech grips which are far superior to the stock grips. Everyone should be using single length clubs in my opinion. You WILL hit more consistent shots, you just have to stick with it. I recently picked up the Mazel 60° chipper, which also knocked a solid 5 shots off my round. Combined with thses clubs, I shot a +4 40 on 9-holes from the white tees yesterday. Had you asked me prior to these clubs, shooting that low would have been a pipe dream for me. Looks like I have played 144 holes with these clubs, plus multiple driving range sessions. No problems with durability. For $180 bucks you can't go wrong. Sidenote: I see nearly all of the 1-star reviews are from people complaining of receiving just one club instead of the full set. Apparently there was a fulfillment issue at some point? I was really pumped when I received these clubs. I was looking forward to using them. I normally hit my 7 iron pretty good and felt having all the same length might be fun. I was planning to go out to the course the following Wednesday, so I headed to the driving range on Sunday. I was hitting the 7 iron but not getting my normal distance, but concluded that they may just take getting used to. I started hitting the pitching wedge and was not twenty hits in when the head separated from the shaft. It broke off where the shaft enters the club head. I am not a big divot taker and I was hitting off the ground and not a mat so this should not have happened. After this encounter, I was afraid to use the clubs the following Wednesday. I left them at home. I was afraid to use them after that point. After experiencing the two clubs, I was dismayed. They certainly would not get my recommendation. I had hoped to enjoy these and maybe even buy a more expensive set of single length clubs for Christmas, not even considering that now. Read more
I hesitated to write this review until I used these for a couple months because I was sure they’d break… they didn’t! I received every club mentioned (GW-5i) and they all matched the description. This was my first experience with single length clubs and they were awesome! The feel was amazing, they look solid, and you just can’t beat the price tag for a set of single length irons. This is a great tool for any early golfer and I’m already recommending them to some friends that want to get into golf without breaking the bank. If you’re scared of the reviews of “only receiving one club”, I think it’s worth it to try it out because worst case scenario Amazon just gives you a refund and you buy a different set. Although the clubs were slightly used when they arrived which I did not like, the single length shafts makes it much easier to hit for the person I gifted them to. In a short period of time a few strokes have already been shaved off. My guess, that will continue. A noticable difference in swing consistency including reduced mishits and improved distance. the weight of the clubhead with the graphite is a plus. The feel seems balanced which helps create a consistent swing. I gave it a 4 instead of a 4 simply because they were slightly used when they arrived. Read more
