Almost perfect... design flaws

RobertNovember 8, 2024

We had a previous model for 15 years or so then just purchased this one. It works well, reliably and am overall satisfied with this product. It is used daily for toasting and occassionally for warming leftovers. Two things I dislike are shown in the photo. First - the handle. It is too deep. It doesn't allow for the front glass door to lay fully flat when opened. This means that when you pull out the rack to remove food, your plate cannot slide under it and be flat. Your plate has to go in on an angle which means you're fighting to get food UP to the plate, rather than slide out easily and drop onto the plate. It annoys me every single day. The last model we had was not like this. Second - the dial. The line for the minutes is on the far-away part of the dial. It was difficult to get the exact 'sweet spot' for toasting. Thankfully, it was easy enough to modify by adding a mark with a sharpie on the dial at the unit so we can see the alignment much better. A very minor inconvenience, but this mark was on the old model. Not sure why these 2 items were changed on newer models. The engineers/designers who make these products should have to use them on the daily for all functions for several months prior to release. The design flaws mentioned would have been avoided. Love this unit!

Simple, compact, small size, even heat, toasts great, low power drain allows use with a 2000 watt inverter in my camper. Just be aware that the exterior can get hot after long usage. Read more

I Was Surprised

TerryDecember 27, 2023

I got this Countertop Oven as something to temporarily replace a larger air fryer. It's just a little bigger than a regular toaster oven, but is actually very versatile. It's almost old school since nothing is digital. You can easily select different settings - air fryer, toaster, etc. Setting the temperature and time, however, is guesswork because of the manual dials (I told you it was old school). To set the time, you have to turn the dial to at least 20 minutes, then back to the time you want to set. While all this sounds negative, I was very pleasantly surprised by the food quality coming out. Meats are cooked evenly and are rarely ever dried out. Reheating food has also been very successful. This countertop oven was so quiet, the first time I used it I had to open the oven door to see if it was on. My main wish is that the tray holding the food was a little bigger enabling it to hold more food. Overall, very happy with this purchase. Read more

Oster Over

Nancy L. TaylorJanuary 23, 2026

I just replaced my Oster Toaster Oven and I really liked it - it had a timer problem and got to 5 minutes and got stuck - it had a few years on it - the new Oster Toaster and Air-fryer is set up just like the old one and I really like the looks of it - I went with black this time and it fits in perfect - I have only used it one time but Oster is brand I can trust and don't expect ant problems - thanks Read more

I guess it'll do but would not buy again UPDATED...no, it just won't do

Jeff P.August 13, 2022

This item has a nice clean look and fits perfectly in the space I have for it. And when in Turbo or Air Fry mode it’s dead silent - you have to put your ear next to it to determine that the fan is on. That’s the good news. At least I guess that’s good news, but I wonder how much air is actually being moved inside it. The bad news: it’s seriously underpowered. I wondered why competing models boasted of their wattage while this Oster omitted any mention. The Turbo/Air Fryer fan (same speed in either mode, near as I can tell) is so wimpy that it can’t compensate for long preheat and cooking times. Expect the oven to take longer than you’d expect for pretty much any task. An air fryer replacement? Forget it. The adjustable shelf doubles as the air fryer surface which means any food drippings land directly on the lower heating elements and burn onto them. I did remove the crumb tray (beneath the lower elements) to wrap it in foil, but in removing it I touched an adjacent trim piece that was so sharp that it slit my finger open. And forgetting the designed-in splatter, the air fryer feature seems to consist of inadequate broiler elements supplemented by an inadequate fan. If you’re looking for air fryer functionality, look elsewhere. Finally, the included cooking tray is comically tiny - much smaller than the already small space available within the oven. So I bought a bigger tray + crisper basket combo to replace it and wring out a little extra performance. It didn't help. Good money after bad. This is one of those instances where you get what you pay for. I’d suggest you consider paying a little more, especially if you use your toaster oven often. UPDATE 10/20/22 - I gave it away. I replaced it with a Hamilton Beach (ASIN B08C8H1PN2) with about the same compact footprint but with much more interior space, better racks and pans, more features and a lot more cooking power. It costs more than this Oster but is well worth considering if you use your countertop oven almost daily as I do, or if you want to be able to actually benefit from the air fryer capability. UPDATE 11/11/22 - Revised from 2 stars to 1 star and made minor edits above. The person I gave the Oster to gave it away to someone else and is shopping for another one. He appreciated the gift even knowing I didn't like it but from his perspective, it wasn't worth keeping at a price of zero. If you look at my reviews I almost never give 1 star. I realize that many others are happy with it so your mileage may vary. Read more

Not what expected from Oster Product

ontheroadagMay 9, 2023

This item looked good in the pictures and had a brand name known to me for better quality. The price point was also reasonable. Sad to say, I was disappointed with my first use. I should have checked for a light inside as being listed in the description. There is none and that makes it hard to see the progress of the cooking. The fact that it is necessary to turn the timing knob to 20 first and then scaling back for shorter time is inconvenient and difficult because the knobs do not turn easily. The oven also gets very hot outside while using and I know this is not necessary because I have another one that does not do this. Finally, the casserole I tried to bake took extra, extra time to bake and did not brown well. So, determine how you want to use this item before ordering as it does not work easliy for all applications. Read more
