I am a big fan of OTOTO products because so many are unique, cute, and good quality. But, because I am familiar with the brand and have several products from them, I expect them all to be highly functional and great quality. These salt and pepper grinders are exactly what I would expect from OTOTO. FIRST, they are great quality wood, gorgeous colors, and they function excellently. I have black peppercorns in the pepper grinder and large pink Himalayan salt in the salt grinder. They were both slightly tricky to get the tops back onto with the large salt and pepper pieces in them, but once they were lined up they went back together perfectly. They both grind the peppercorns and salt exactly as I wanted them to with minimal effort. The grinders themselves aren’t the giant ones you see at restaurants, they are smaller than my electric grinders but larger than the individual ones you can buy preloaded at the grocery store. The top pieces are also interchangeable so you can match the salt and pepper with whatever color grinder apple makes sense in your own mind. Pepper was red in my brain and salt was green so those are the colors that I chose for them. Overall, they are slightly pricey compared to some of the alternatives you could choose, but they are so niche and well made they are absolutely worth the price. Read more

This set of apple stem grinders was too good to pass up. The wood's appearance, feel, and quality all match, and it's simple to add and grind the salt and pepper balls. It grinds extremely finely and thinly. Although it is a little small, the vivid, eye-catching color brightens my kitchen. The content that appears at the bottom is one aspect of it that I find objectionable. If it had a cap of some sort, the problem would be resolved. Read more

At first, I was skeptical that an apple core design would appeal to me, but it's actually so much nicer in person and very practical. I was also afraid that they would be too large to fit on the little stooI where I work and eat meals. However, they are just the right size being almost 2-1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The wood is very smooth and it's really cute how they carved the little apple seed design around the middle. The wood is actually a little bit hefty for their small size and they feel good in your hands. When you get them, give the tops a little turn before filling. Using them, the tops glide smoothly and the seasoning falls out easily in uniform bits (see my photos). They're very easy to fill. The top is screwed on with a small metal cap, either in black or white. The only thing is that you have to be very careful not to lose it as it is very small. Then the wooden top comes off and there's a small well (see my photo) that you fill with a tablespoon or so of seasoning. I put multicolored whole peppercorns in the red apple and thick garlic flakes in the green; both grind up really well and I'm really impressed how the garlic flakes get pulverized. You can see the ultrafine results in my photos. (There is no way to adjust the grind, but I don’t need that.) The price of thirty bucks is reasonable for such a pretty set, and they would make a novel gift for a special occasion such as a housewarming. Read more

I love the OTOTO line for its fun, cute kitchen supplies! Like other OTOTO pieces, these are both very functional spice holders. The containers are easy to open, fill, and use, and the surfaces are easy to clean as needed. They're similarly sized to traditional spice containers, but the design adds special fun! Great value. I have been an Customer for 20 years, and this is by far the best product I’ve ever ordered - it truly sparks joy. I’ve searched high and low for a salt and pepper grinder set that both matches my vibe and has an excellent build quality. This set does both extraordinarily well. It is made of wood with vibrant color on the tops and bottoms. They grind both salt and pepper with ease and are simple to fill - very important for someone with physical challenges. Admittedly, I wish they were a bit larger, but it’s just me so practically speaking, they are the perfect size. Lastly, considering the all-around quality, both inside and out, they are an excellent value for the money. I can’t wait to order a lot more Ototo products! Read more

I love Ototo's designs and these apple core salt and pepper grinders are just as cute as the other items I have from them. They are real wood and work just as well as other basic grinders I've had. They are super easy to use since you just fill them and grind away. They are a bit on the smaller side so they don't hold as much as some other grinders but they are easy to refill. The colors are bright and look good on my table, although I do wish they were marked so it is obvious which one is salt and which is pepper. There is also no way to adjust the fineness of the grind, which I did rather expect at this price. Read more
