OtterBox iPhone 16 Commuter Series Case - Black

This is my third Otterbox Commuter Series case in the last several years. Each time I have needed to buy one for new phones or because the little flap covering the phone's charging slot was wearing away, never because the case was broken. Otterbox is a well-known and well-regarded company for phone cases, and this is another winner in their lineup. I recently got a new phone and accidentally dropped it from about 3 feet up onto the street. Perhaps a little naively I wasn't too concerned, because Otterbox had never failed me before - sure enough, the phone was perfectly fine, and the case wasn't even dented to boot. It works, and my still-functioning phone is a testament to it. I would (and do) recommend this to anyone looking for a sleek phone case. Not compensated for this review. Read more

This case does exactly what it needs it to do—protects my phone without making it huge in my pocket. The OtterBox Commuter Series strikes a great balance between being tough and still feeling slim. It’s not as bulky as the Defender, but you still get that solid, two-layer protection that OtterBox is known for. The case has a slightly grippy texture, so I’m not constantly worried about dropping my phone, and the buttons are easy to press—not stiff or mushy like some cheaper cases. I also really like the little port covers to keep out lint and dust, especially since I carry my phone in my pocket most of the day. It fits the iPhone 16 perfectly and didn’t interfere with my screen protector at all. Wireless charging works through the case just fine, too, which was a must for me. Read more

I would give it a 5 star review (and I wish you could do 4.5), but there are some things about the case that I wish were a little bit better. I have owned this case for 10 months and I am now looking to replace it. First, the top of the case cracked and a piece broke off maybe 7 or 8 months into owning it, better than the screen I suppose but I have been too lazy to replace it up until now. Second, after a while the case becomes very... loose. Not loose to the point of the phone falling out of the case, but loose enough to where a lot more dirt and debris will get inside the case making it very dirty quite often. Now as far the good, I'll keep it short and to the point. The design is the sleekest I have seen/felt for a protective case, and I have dropped my phone a few times since owning it and I've never once had a problem. The charger port cover held up extremely well and protected the port perfectly, and didn't break even with me messing with it all the time. Lastly, the wireless charging works great. altogether, for me it is a case that even with some minor flaws is worth buying not once but now going on twice. Read more

I have long been an Otterbox fan, however I scaled down from the Defender to the Commuter series since I did not need as much protection. The commuter series offers great protects but has a slimmer profile that allows me to toss it in my pocket and not look like I am hiding anything. It is a little pricy for my tastes but I feel its a necessary cost for the reliability and protection I am getting for my money, A couple suggestions, make sure to get screen and camera protectors.
