Description: This Okitel 5 KWH was discounted last winter and I thought I would give it a try. I have previous experience with a 2 KWH power station from Zendure but that hasn’t worked out well. This Okitel is simpler in that it doesn’t support WiFi or Bluetooth, but it still had the basic UPS functionality I wanted. It was simple to setup, just plug it in and charge it, then connect the load. There are a few settings that the manual describes but the default setup should work for most people. My use: I have it connected to my refrigerator, and my entertainment system. After all you need to keep your food cold and your entertainment live. My maximum load is around a kilowatt, but normally with the TV off, just running the fridge it supplies between 7 watts and 750 watts. My full size side by side fridge only draws 750 watts when defrosting which only happens once a day and then only for a few minutes. Typical draw when the compressor is running is around 200 watts and when the compressor isn’t running it only draws 7 watts. Rundown test: I have had the power station installed for a few months now, and it has protected my food and provided power for entertainment as expected, but I thought I would do a full rundown test to see how long I could survive if the main power went out for an extended time. So, I simply unplugged the power station from the main power and monitored the stations output to my loads with an inexpensive meter that displays the accumulated KWH during the test. I then used the fridge and watched TV during the day and evening until the Okitel discharged down to the less than 10% charge level. I chose not to run it down completely, I was just trying to get an estimate of how long it would last and how much power I could get out of it. My result was completely satisfying. I was able to run my loads for over 31 hours and the total output was over 4 KWHs with about 10% supply remaining. My web research indicates that it is very typical to get about 80% of the rated capacity out of this type of power station, so i am satisfied that it is working properly and as I said in the title, So far so good! Recommended. Extra notes: The power being consumed during the rundown test was mostly used by the entertainment system. It is my belief that if I had run only my fridge, the Okitel would have run just that for several days before running all the way down. So, in a true emergency where you just want to keep your fridge running, you should get two full days of operation. Note that the Okitel does support solar charging at 1000 watts, so if you add a few hundred watts of solar panels it should keep your food cold off grid indefinitely. Read more

Most watts for the dollar in a compact , heavy but manageably portable UPS battery backup. It is part of a solar generator system , though I don’t use it for that. I purchased it for the sole purpose of backing up my natural gas furnace utilizing it’s UPS capabilities. There are enough watts to keep the furnace fan blowing for two days of comfortable use. Stretch it to four days if you drop the thermostat to 60 F. Great if you are on a winter escape from central Minnesota and a storm takes out the power so you don’t come home to frozen pipes. Set up was easy. Instructions could have been written in better technical English but you can understand it as it is a very simple system. The only maintenance is cycling the battery periodically if not used. Other than that , it should sit there stoically and respond as needed for at least the next decade. Read more

All the positives are in the specification - huge battery, powerful inverter, fairly low price (3wh/$)! Great for backup scenarios when your power goes out. However, using it continuously isn't great. This is what I found out after more than a month of use. 1. As soon as you turn on 110v outlets the loud fan turns on. Even if no or little power is drawn. Even if it is in the Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) mode - i.e. also connected to the outlet. This fan is very loud. This pretty much prevents constant use of 110v outlets - UPS mode or not. 2. Solar charge controller is weird. I have a 1000w array connected to this device. On good days I'm getting over 600w from it, which is OK for my area. However, I observe the following. I let it run continuously overnight, and I read less than 400 watts at around noon. At this time, I disconnect the panels, connect them again immediately, and all of a sudden, this thing can extract almost 600 watts! So, it seems that the tracking isn't great. 3. The power of a DC output is rather low. The most powerful DC outlet on my model is 24v 10amp (only 240w). And it has a super sensitive overpower protection. Can't exceed this for even a second. This prevents you from running a more-or-less powerful inverter off of it. Even momentary power surges will trigger protection, and the outlet will be disabled. And will require manual reset to go back on. 4. 100w USB C power delivery ports aren't very compatible. And I suspect the power is shared between several USB ports. When I connect a 65w device to it, it takes tens of seconds to recognize the power is connected. A 130w device also recognizes it and rightfully complains about slow charger and gets charged at slower rate. However, when other devices are plugged into other USB ports, the 130w device refuses to charge at all. Customer service seems to be responsive, and they take suggestions. So hopefully this will improve with time. I already saw a different version sold here on Amazon with 48v 15w DC output port in customer photos at even lower price. Would I buy this again? Yes, but I would rather buy that version (https://a.co/d/4hIp0Ic). Read more

I purchased the beast. in August, works great as long as you stay under 2200 watts. The battery holds its charge for months without dropping one percent. Fantastic price and quality. Big Dave Read more
