My 11-year-old son has braces and often gets food stuck in them. It is easy for him to use by himself, although once in a while, I have to help him get some spots he can't reach. The brush comes with a cap to keep it from gathering lint and such. Works very well after I soak it in warm water. I've noticed if I just wet the brush and apply toothpaste or serum it it feels very rough on my teeth. I recommend conditioning the brush before use for a softer experience.
