This game is great for playing with friends and family remotely. It can be played with everyone together in one room as well, but so can a million different trivia games. What makes this unique is the ability to let others join the game and play with you remotely. They do NOT need to have their own version of the game. A code pops up for you to give to them and they can play via a free app on their phone or tablet. We have family all in various locations and have had so much fun playing this together with them. Basics of the game: It is very similar to trivial pursuit in concept. You move around the board answering trivia questions based on the categories you choose. We got the Ultimate Edition because it came with more categories, but you can actually buy a new category for $3.49 (at the time of writing this) in their online store. We also already won a free one from a "Golden Question" they asked at the end of our game. Variety and Choices: In Trivial Pursuit you have to complete all categories to get to the final challenge. In this game, you can choose to complete two categories (called rings) or four or six. You choose when you set it up. You can choose how it is handled in terms of timing attempts, bonus play, turning on assists like in 50/50, skip the question, and extra time. You can turn these things on or off and control how many assists are given to each team. It also allows you to select the age group (child, teen, and adult) of a player to make the questions fit their age range better. Electronic device not optional: When you see the pictures of the game, you see the board and player pieces, and dice. That sort of implies you can play without using an electronic device like a phone or tablet. You cannot. The questions come from the device. You can do all the rolling and moving around the board on the pieces in the box or using the app, but you can only do the questions and submit answers on the device using the game app (which is free). You only need one device to play it and you can easily mirror your device to a TV for better group viewing though. I got this game to play remotely with people so this feature didn't bother me, but it might bother others. If you are looking for a traditional sit around a board and read questions and answer trivia game, this is not that. The good part is that the questions are very up-to-date and you can add new question packs over time since it is app based. Final Thoughts: Very much recommend for playing remotely with others. Also recommend for everyone in a room together as long as you understand you will need to use a tablet or phone to do the questions and submitting answers. Would not recommend if you are looking for a traditional sit around the table trivia game. Read more

This is exactly what I wanted and expected. Anyone who says the questions are all U.K. or that the board and game pieces aren't used is NOT understanding the game play. Yes, you can play without the game board IF you choose the fully digital mode, but you can also play manually (rolling dice, moving pieces, and playing with the game board) - my fave!, using the app for questions only. This is a great game that combines technology and trivia to make an experience the whole family can enjoy. I've already played several times and have bought the additional question game packs for even more fun in categories I'm excited to play. If you're on the fence like I was due to 1-star reviews, ignore them and just buy the game. You won't regret it! Read more

Our family has had such a great time playing Outsmarted! It’s become one of our go-to games for family nights, and it’s been a fun way to bond with our teenagers. We really like that we can play on our devices and then mirror the game to the TV so everyone can easily follow along. The questions are awesome—up-to-date and even tied to current events (we saw questions from just last week!). There’s also a wide variety of topics, so it feels fun and challenging without needing to buy extra packs. One of our favorite features is the ability to build up assists. It adds a whole new layer of strategy and competition, which makes the game even more exciting. Overall, Outsmarted has been a huge hit in our house—we can’t recommend it enough! Read more

This game is brilliant, so much fun. Great questions and you have the option to buy more categories that interest you or your game players. I bought more like Animal kingdom and Disney classics etc.. you can play the game sitting at a table with the board or you can link the game through your phone to your smart TV. Everyone joins with their phone viva a code given after you pick you question categories. 1- 24 players and you can play in teams. Have fun.. we did😁 Read more

We enjoyed this game as a family, loved that you could choose so many different topics, but most of them you have to pay for (like marvel trivia questions). The only thing we didn't really like about the game was that you are basically all playing independently. When it is your turn, you answer the question and if you get it right you get points and if you get it wrong it's the next person's turn. It would be better if you were racing to answer it correctly with the group of people you are with, or if you were able to challenge other people playing the game. Something cool is that people in other houses can play with you by entering the code. One person uses their phone to add all the players. If this is your style, you will love it. You can play completely on your phone or half on your phone and half on the game board. My family just prefers when you are racing to beat another player. Read more

My entire family loves this game! Even my preteen son who isn’t normally a “board game” fan. I love that everyone in our family (ages 7-33) can play and have a fair shot with the profiles and questions being age based. I also love that there are so many categories available to purchase. You do have to pay extra for them, but we found the prices decent. Read more

Love this updated trivia game! The entire family can play, plus we don't have to worry about keeping track of question card with everything going through the app. We've had the game for about a week and have played every night. Highly recommend for anyone who loves playing trivia games. There are so many question packs you can add on that the game play is endless. Read more

Great game that can be played by the whole family. We got it so we could play it with our kids and grandkids. Now they want to play all the time all over the country. It’s an amazing concept and the questions are very entertaining. Read more
