Great Movie. Watched with Step-Daughter. Now she wants to see #2 Read more
Paddington books were staples of my childhood reading. I adored the smart, funny bear and his adventures in London. As an adult, I expected the film to be childish and maybe dumbed down. I am happy to report itβs anything BUT that. The special effects (aka the bear) are completely seamless, so I forgot he wasnβt just part of the cast, and the film increases the fantasy with some magical visual moments you have to see to appreciate. The humor works for adults, and I laughed as hard at Paddingtonβs first adventures with indoor plumbing as I did at scenes that were less slapstick. Iβm not sure how children reacted to Nicole Kidman, as the villain, and her plans for Paddington, because that seemed potentially too scary, but I expect reviews from parents will weigh in on that. This is a sweet movie that brings all the feelings. Iβve watched it during some sad times, and it never fails to cheer. Read more
I admit I was a bit skeptical heading into the initial watching of Paddington. I've loved the various chapter and picture books as well as television series over the years. Each one has been delightful and fun in their own way, but sending such an iconic character to the big screen with the threat of taxidermy seemed a bit, well, frightening. No need to worry, though. The film version of Paddington is a delight from start to finish and one that is not overdone or overlong at a nifty 95 minute run-time. The Browns are a bit more modern and there is a bit more to Paddington's origins than those of us familiar with the story would expect, but these are all good things. By the end, I did not want the Brown's adventure to end. Even Mr. Curry gets his moment or two. There are times when the story does not exactly zip along but there is plenty of mischief to be had. Overall, this is a film for families to enjoy and an opportunity to introduce the delights of Paddington bear and his marmalade sandwiches to a whole new audience. A well deserved five stars for exceeding my expectations in every way. Read more
This is a very good film for all ages. An excellent film for kids with great filmmaking behind it that even adults will enjoy. The five stars is for the film itself, it is quite enjoyable, heartwarming, & superb. But the behind the scenes features left something to be desired. In that there wasn't any at all. This to me was rather egregious as Paddington is truly a well made film with great craft in all of its moving parts. So I was eager to see what the actual filming was like, how certain scenes and motifs were come up with. But they were not there. This will not bother anyone else but as a fan of films and someone who adored this one in particular, it was a bit of a let down. Read more
Paddington One is an absolutely adorable movie for children and adults alike. It's an adventurous and heartwarming tale of little Paddington the bear as he tries his very best to find a permanent home. His journey takes sweet little Paddington from darkest Peru to London, UK. I highly recommend this movie. Read more
IMDB rating 7.3 | I had no expectations when I purchased this DVD other than hoping it would be cute and entertaining. I was NOT disappointed. If you belong to the grey haired set don't worry, it's not just for the grandkids. Cute little Paddington tells us the story of his beginnings and how he came to be in London. After viewing, I ordered Paddington 2 which I've yet to watch, but will soon as I will next be ordering Paddington in Peru when it goes to DVD. Highly Recommended. Read more
We enjoyed Paddington more than we expected. We first saw it in the theater and have since purchased several copies for ourselves and for gifts. Paddington in delightful and it is fun watching some of the predicaments he gets himself into. Nicole Kidman's part was a little rough, but she provide a thorough unlikeable villain to root against. The British flavor throughout the movie was a real treat. Read more
If this is Paddington Bear 1 (with the bath tub) it was 5 star. I give Paggington in Peru only 3 or 4 Read more
