What a great surprise. First of all this cream is MUCH better than the Palmolive shave stick. Not that it smells different or works different it is just so much easier to use and efficient as a cream. Just wet your brush in warm water add about a quarters worth of cream and lather right on the face. Wonderful performance that rivals my most expensive shave creams in my den. My first thought when using this Palmolive Classic Shave Cream was why in the world have I been wasting so much money on artisan soaps??? I am going to be ordering more and probably three tubes at time in the future. I could see myself using this cream every shave and never having a complaint ! What great close shaves it gives. It leaves your skin feeling conditioned and you can use any after shave products you want after it without any scent interference. Excellent ! Palmolive has it all covered nice scent, great lather, great cushion, great slickness and residual slick as well as a nice post shave feel. Bought this on a lark along with some extra DE blades. Decided to see how well it would work with 2 or 3 days of beard growth and was pleasantly surprised. A small amount (size somewhere between a nickel and quarter) squeezed into my shaving bowl created enough lather for up to 5 passes or more. It worked just as well for me as my favorite products from Proraso and Barbasol. The tube is larger than I expected, more like a small tube of toothpaste than the sample size that I'd imagined. 👍 I liked the palm extract smell too: Pleasant, NOT overpowering and reminded me of a nice bar of soap. That adds to the overall feeling of being clean that a man should get from his shave. I find it strange that Amazon is asking me how well this product travels. It's too large to be allowed on a plane in a carry-on bag, due to TSA regulations. You'd think that Amazon would have known that... Also, I don't do much traveling by plane these days. I've been wanting to try this for a long time and I'm glad I finally found it in stock. So far, I've shaved with the Palmolive shave cream twice using a straight razor, and it's outperformed my expectations. From this point forward I will be using Palmolive for Men Classic Palm Extract Shave Cream in place of Proraso products except for the Proraso Menthol in the hot and humid summer months. I should also add that I didn't use a pre-shave cream, and I got an extremely close shave. Read more
I first used this product when visiting Europe and brought a couple tubes home in my suitcase. When those were gone, I tried to find a local source, then decided to purchase them online through Amazon. It's the same quality I enjoyed in Germany, but the source I got it from was a company in the UK and shipping took weeks, not days. I recommend buying a couple so you don't have to wait. As far as the product goes, I like the fresh scent, it provides a smooth shave, and lathers up much better than many of the drugstore cream shaves available in the US (like Cremo or Edge, which gum up my safety razor). It's easy to use, and I always choose it in the morning when I don't want to spend as much time creating a soap lather in my shaving mug. Read more
All the 5 star reviews are true - this stuff is magic. Really. It is. I’ve indulged crazy expensive shaving soaps, creams, foams from all over the globe - this stuff is all their equals. For $7. It cant be improved - just like an 80 year old safety razor. Trust me. Squeeze a little in a bowl, whip with a brush, it explodes into a super creamy lather. The shaving industry is a huge scam. Going old school with shaving cream can get you both the worst and best of options. The worst is the old foam type shave cream and the best is this tube of Palmolive. Once upon a time it was called "brushless" shaving cream because it is an actual cream and you don't need a brush to get it to lather up. I have a thick beard and usually use Edge gel for sensitive skin for the convenience and because it works well. But I keep Palmolive in my travel shaving kit because it is so much smaller and lighter than a can, you never run out by surprise, and it just works amazingly well. Just a small dab on the fingertips massaged into your beard, and you get a nick free and close shave. It has a clean, neutral scent, and washes off easily, leaving your face moisturized. The kicker is that this shaving cream is cheap. Because you only need to use a little, a tube lasts a long, long, long time. If you're even curious about whether to try this shave cream, just do it.
