After going through two Phillips Sonicare Airflossers, well before what I considered a normal lifespan, I decided it was time for a change. First, I'm going to admit to you that one of the necessary requirements for me in choosing a new oral irrigation system would be esthetics. If it was going to be on display on my bathroom counter, I wanted to be happy seeing and using it daily. Also, a charging base was a must. I didn't want to have to bother plugging in a usb cord in order to charge it. I wanted the same convenience that I enjoy with my toothbrush; the simple action of using it and just placing it back onto its base to charge. Those two factors are what initially drew my attention to this oral irrigator from Panasonic. Yes, it was priced higher than other brands, but now that I'm using it daily, I can happily justify paying a bit more for this product as it does a great job. The quality is apparent right out of the box. The ergonomic design of the unit sits comfortably in the hand and the silicone texture on the back gives a secure grip even with wet hands. It's easy to fill and holds more than enough water for a thorough mouth cleaning. And yes, most importantly, it's powerful. So much so that I'm starting out at a mid point level until my gums adapt to the impressive water pressure. Having said that, changing the water pressure levels is easy; control buttons are conveniently located where fingers naturally rest when holding the unit. Another good thing to note is that this model comes with two tips making it ideal for multiple users. Tips are easily interchangeable and can be kept on the base. And speaking of the tip, it rotates so achieving the ideal angle in one's mouth is easy. If you are already familiar with using this type of oral irrigation system, you know it initially may take a little practice to master this form of dental hygiene. But because of this units on and off button, you have complete control of the water flow so keeping your bathroom counter splatter free is so much simpler. This unit gives me confidence that I'm removing food particles that brushing alone misses. And what's notable about this particular model is the technology behind the design. As of Aug 2022: I took it apart and changed the rechargeable battery. Looks like new again! Came across this Panasonic on Amazon and it looks like Amazon is the only seller of this water flosser (as of Dec 2019). This is my first purchase of a water flosser and indeed I think I made the right choice. Some specs: 1) Height of the flosser body (without the removable tip): 8" 2) Max width of the flosser body: 3" 3) Weight of the flosser body: 9 oz Feel of the body is "well made". It has a cover at the bottom (you can take it out) and there is another hole to fill the flosser with water. There is no separate reservoir - The body itself is the reservoir + the battery. Water power ranges from level 1 to 5 (the highest). There is a separate charger to charge the flosser. Panasonic provides 2 tips in the package. The battery lasts about 10 times and each session is about 1 min. If you want to floss more than 1 min you need to refill it with water. The charging time to full power is about an hour. Voltage is 100-240V. I love this flosser. Why? 1) Light weight and easy to carry 2) Each session lasts 1 min, which is longer than most other portable models 3) No mold issue so far. At the end of each session, just take out the bottom cover and drain all remaining water. Remove the tip as well. Then place the flosser body horizontally to air dry 4) Water power at level 5 is quite strong. I can see all the food scraps falling down to the drain from my mouth and my teeth feel very clean afterwards 5) Charging time is fast So far no complaints at all! I received this product and was not able to turn it on. I have requested replacement. By the time the replacement arrived, I tried again and the prior item worked, so I returned the replacement. Now I am asked again ti send the item back. There is no place in Amazon where I can communicate this, so I have to write this as an inconvenience. The item works perfectly well, I can not give a low score. Amazon should add the way this type of things can be communicated. Read more
I've tried most water flossers. The EW1511 is the one to buy because it has the fewest flaws. It's the only one that's quiet, doesn't have an awkward cord, and leaves you feeling clean. It also doesn't need to be refilled while flossing because it uses less water. Exchanged this for a another flosser that was much lower in price. This is a case of you get what you pay for. Much more comfortable, easy to operate. I found the nozzle much easier to aim at the right place. The filler hole is larger and easier to fill. Switching nozzles is easy, charging is fast and so far anyway, dependable. Most of these products seem to have some reliability issues according to some negative reviews. I hope this one keeps working because we both really like it. Now that we have used it 4 times a day two people twice a day for about a 18 months I can say it is durable and works great. The last two dental cleans I have had the hygienist said “I am having trouble finding anything to clean “. Some have complained of a problem getting the water to start.
