I have been in a monogamous relationship with Venus for 15 years and was honestly a little terrified to make the switch to an open blade but this little tool is awesome! Been using for 2 months now and its so easy to use, just go slow. Haven't had a single nick anywhere I've used it. Super smooth shave on the legs, underarm, and bikini line! Great weight in the hand, handle design is not slippery, its easy to open and dry everything out after each use (recommended to prolong the life of all parts, especially the blade). Compared to the Venus, this is so much more cost effective and environmentally friendly! Note: I never use shave gel/cream so I cant speak to how the razor works with that product, I would assume fine. I only wash with goat milk bar soap (uber gentle and moisturizing, Zum is awesome if your interested) so I shave with it too. It provides a great soft cushion for the blade and never clogs it up. In a world of mustaches and beards, I watch men that run around bragging and gloating about the color, size, or fluffiness of their facial hair and I was envious. Life just seemed to be so wonderful for them. I could envision my imaginary bearded self dressed in flannel and stomping through the woods (axe over shoulder) just to return home to my log cabin where some sort of red meat is waiting on the stove. Sadly, after almost 20 years of trying to grow a beard, I gave up and in a fit just began shaving everything to match my ridiculous face. The shaving addiction started and the next six years are a bit of a blur as it seemed that I was happy to throw all caution to the wind and throw money out the window for razors and cartridges. Doing the math at one cartridge a week +shave cream +new handles if needed + razor bump prevention creams I know I’ve spent at least $1,000-$2,000 over the years with the addiction. A couple months ago I was out of cartridges and I was fiening hard so I grabbed my daughter, we whisked off to the store, and as I stood there holding my 5 pack of Mach 3 razors for 17$ my daughter looked at me and asked “Mommy!? What are those?” Ashamed I hid them behind my back and just as I did a guy walked up, chuckled to himself, and said “I didn’t know women used these too!” Yes that’s right- I’m a girl, always have been, and even though I’m blonde and have fine hair I was buying men’s razors because they seemed to work better and cause less irritation in the more sensitive areas. I make good money but I couldn’t see continuing to dump money into this shaving situation so I went looking for other options which led me to this. From other people’s reviews and tips I also purchased a sampler pack of blades. The first day I had it, I’d just play with it in my hand amused by the weight and feel of it. The sample pack of blades, I laid out like baseball cards. I felt like I was five and I had found treasures of some sort. The first shave was slow because I wanted to make sure I did it right. I used a Feather razor and I did nick myself right under my kneecap. I showed someone the nick the next day and his reaction was “I don’t even think that qualifies as a nick it looks like a mosquito bite”. I haven’t nicked myself since (it’s been a month) and now it takes me the same amount of time to shave with this as a disposable but since it seems to shave closer I don’t have to shave as much. I haven’t had to change the 0.31$ blade yet.I just make sure to take it out, dry it, and store it after each use(takes seconds). Biggest selling points for me? 1) CHEAP!! 2) Absolutely no irritation anywhere to include the land down under and it’s maintained Brazilian style. No special shaving creams and no after products just a clean close shave without bumps. 3) Sounds silly but I feel like an adult with this thing. Read more

--- First impressions: (company / marketing) Order did not include the 5 blades as it was supposed to (the box bar code also implied there would be 5 blades included), and therefore waited for a sample pack to arrive. I would rate higher if I received everything expected. (product) Butterfly valve is nice. First time as a female trying it out I shaved everything and loved it's clean shaves. Shaved in shorter strokes, more careful angle, and no force, using just bar soap. Cut myself once on back of leg, probably user / beginner error. Time will tell as far as durability, but so far, VERY happy on this switch from disposable razers. --- 2 month update: I LOVE IT. Indeed the accidental cuts appear beginner error. Cut myself 2-3x within first couple weeks of use, no cuts since, and still using only water / bar soap and replaced blade after about 1.5 months. So far have been using "Astra - a platinum-coated blade". Shaving faster and with less caution now that I'm used to it. --- 1.5 year update. Still using it! Had to grab a reusable razor once when I lost track of it, and actually hated it. Blades wore out faster and at a way higher price point per blade. I love that it's less waste, a nice shave, and that it takes up less space even with 2years supply of blades (I use about 1/ month). Boyfriend likes using it for his face as well! I've been cautious not to drop it and it's held up great. Happy customer! Read more

This is my first safety razor, so I will address some general stuff, about safety razors, and some specifics about this model. Firstly,I am amazed at how much closer the safety razor shaves my legs. (My husband noticed too!) Secondly, the blades are much cheaper than the typical drugstore razors. And if disposed of with care, they can be recycled, unlike drugstore types. Another advantage of using a safety razor is that any brand of double-edge blade will fit, so you are not married to one brand. (I do suggest getting a sample pack to try different brands.) Now, to the Parker 29L; It has a long handle, which is better for shaving legs. I like the textured grip. It is slender enough for a woman's hands and does not feel slippery, when you are in the shower. It has a butterfly opening, which is very easy to use, when you have to change blades. While it is heavier than a drugstore razor (this is all-metal), it is light for a safety razor. So I think most women should be able to handle it comfortably. Finally, 2 tips- take short strokes and do not apply pressure to your skin. The weight of the razor will do the work. Enjoy your smooth legs! Read more
