I ordered these four years ago and I use them every day. One sits on one desk, another sits on another desk and the third I carry with me. I write a lot—notes, letters, crosswords and other puzzles, recipes, etc. I love the dark, bold ink that flows easily and dries very quickly. I'm a southpaw so I'm wary of inks that smear as I drag the heel of my hand across the paper. I'm on my third box of refills (12 count) in four years and I'm very satisfied with the ink quantity and quality. I also like the cushioned barrel. I grip hard and press hard and the cushion definitely prevents pressure-associated pain. At about $2.75 each, they're not the cheapest pens on the market but you definitely get what you pay for. You can buy a couple dozen of throw away stick pens for the same money—but why would you? If you want a quality writing instrument that will last you can't do much better (in my opinion) than these Pentels. But be careful! If someone asks to borrow your pen they're usually reluctant to give it back. Read more

pentel energel bold pens are my favorite pens EVER. gorgeous, glide across the page, and a beautiful vibrant color. i'm OBSESSED with the purple and green. the only thing though, sometimes the ballpoint on these gunks up and it writes with skips, which is super frustrating. it's probably because it's a quick drying formula, so it's kinda like, pick your battles i guess lol. i just have to make sure that i click the pen shut every time i stare off into space in the middle of writing, which is frequently. if it ever gets super super gunked up, i squirt hand sanitizer onto a napkin, dip the pen tip into it, and draw spirals onto the napkin.
