I bought four pair in 2015 for about $25. Iiked them so much that in 2019 I bought four more pair for now $35. It is 2025 and all eight pair are going strong, indistinguishable from each other unless I closely inspect them. While I have had a bit of sticker shock seeing how the price has changed over the six years since I last made my purchase, their durability makes it worth it. They are comfy and warm. I should note I bought a different brand a few years ago (it will go unnammed) and LOVED those socks when they were new, the elastic in those wore out after a few years, even though they were more expensive. Now those socks sag down to my ankles. The much older, and more often worn, People Socks, still stay up like the day I bough them. These are great socks. Read more

I've been wearing merino wool socks, full time, for about 3 years. I used to only wear them hiking, but they really are so much more comfy than cotton that on one of my annual sock swaps I decided to bite the bullet and go wool.(for a couple decades I've been throwing away and replacing all of my, daily wear/work, socks once a year) Gotta say I'm pretty surprised to still be wearing socks I bought 3 years ago(not these socks) and have them still be more comfy than new cotton. I know I just started my review with a digression, but I wanted to get a few points out about wool socks that seem to be on the minds of some and address some misgivings about year round wool sock wear. I'm a carpenter. I'm on my feet all day, every day. I work pretty hard and I get pretty hot, but even on the hottest days of summer my feet are no warmer in wool than cotton, just more comfortable. Wool insulates well. In the winter it will help keep your body heat in. In the summer, in a pair of leather boots/shoes, it doesn't make a spit of difference what your socks are made of, your feet are gonna be hot. The big thing for me is that wool is naturally antimicrobial. I used to get a healthy funk in my work boots and, sometimes very painful,...... uhmmmmm, unwanted colonies of bacteria and/or fungus? on my feet. Not so, since I went wool. Finally: These are really nice socks. I'm about 20 or so washes in and they're doing just fine. They don't have all the bells and whistles, fancy stitching, venting panels, etc. of far more expensive units, but they're far less expensive, well constructed, durable and made right here in the "Good Ole". I will say that at a size 10.5US, these were a little loose right off, but after a few washes they shrunk considerably, which is common in wool. At this point they go on a bit snug, but relax to match the shape of my foot, without stretching or bunching, very well. All told, I love wool socks and these are a fine offering. Read more

This was my first pair of quality wool socks. I'm sold on the benefits. I've had them for four months and these four pairs have been in constant use. I've gotten rid of all other socks (save dress socks) because these are so much more comfortable! It was cold when I got them and they kept me warm through the cold rains of spring. Even as it is now 90+ and very humid where I live. I'm wearing them to work every day in the tire shop. They keep my my feet dry no matter how much I sweat, even wearing rubber shoes. The cushioning remains even when sweating heavily. I took these on a camping trip a couple months ago. I changed socks at lunch, hung a pair on my pack, and they were dry when we made camp a few hours later. These socks dry faster than even a thin dress sock, great for light traveling. They didn't smell even after two days of hiking! I now work out and run in these socks too. After over four months of heavy, constant use and washing (not following the care instructions btw just throwing in with everything else) they are only now beginning to show the slightest wear in the ball of the foot which is wear my socks always wear out first. Some people in the reviews complained about pilling, that was true for me too, but very mild and purely cosmetic. These socks are an investment and a bargain for the universal comfort, utility, and durability they provide. Read more

Another fellow forester introduced me to merino wool socks. So I purchased six brands of Merino wool socks to see which merino brand socks worked the best for me. As my my feet get hot and sweaty easily even on a cold day. And I'm in work boots nearly everyday can to can't. As a Forester I'm on the hoof most of the day and wear several types of boots. Depends on various types of terrain, weather conditions, and all four seasons of the year. Surprisingly, I found the more expensive Merino wool socks didn't work as well for me. One brand said came with lifetime guarantee. Well the elasticity of the upper sock failed after a short time. I found other brands were just to warm especially in the summer here in the south. Thus, I purchased addition Peoples socks and I found that they are a great sock for my use. Very comfortable, feet do not get hot, and more importantly do not make my feet sweat when in my boot all day walking. The only negative is that the area of the sock at the ball of my foot wears out to quick in my opinion. I've got a lot of mixed matched socks as one sock would wear out a whole at the ball of the foot. But the rest of the sock is still in great shape. It's great that Peoples Socks reinforces the toe and heel. However, when on your feet walking all day the weight of your body is going to be transferred to the ball of your foot when you step forward. Which is where most of compression and friction occurs when walking or climbing. Other than having to throw out a good many socks that are perfectly good socks other than a hole in the bottom, Peoples Socks are just as good as the more expensive brand Merino wool socks. Read more
