I would like to start by saying to the other reviewers that said it was loose and falls off you probably did not have it snapped together properly. It is difficult because you have to use some pressure to get it to snap together so if you do it correctly you will hear it snap in. If it does not snap in then turn it 180 degrees and try the other side. I can open it and it was wide enough to fit my nexus 7 in between the clamps. It also has feet that swing out that might not be noticeable at first, my daughter found them and it holds the phone perfectly in place while your squeezing it together. I never use my cd player so this makes it very worth while and the angle is perfect for watching Google maps. I had to buy a replacement due to my granddaughter breaking it by pushing against it to roughly. I have one for each vehicle and for the money this is great. Read more

Good idea, bad execution. The design of the ball joint to CD tray mount connection is much too weak. It broke during installation, so I never even got to try it. I wanted to use it with a Nexus 7 tablet with a Qi charger pad behind it. It has the correct size, but isn't strong enough for the extra load. I wouldn't trust it with a phone after seeing how easily it broke while not moving at all. A bumpy road could put the same stress on it, so a phone could go flying if it broke during a bumpy ride. It fits my MINI Cooper Hatchback, although it's a tight squeeze in the CD opening so be careful not to force it into the slot. A little "bouncy" with my Garmin Nuvi installed, better with my iPhone (which is lighter). Takes some getting used to ( I still occasionally hit it with my hand when I reach for the gear shifter). For me the main drawback is having to look down at the dash to see it: My windshield mount is higher & more stable. Read more

Revised down from four stars. Original comment: it's a clever device, but I was disappointed to find that it would not hold my Tom Tom XL with the power cord plugged in. It would after I took an xacto knife to the lower foam pad and carved away a space for the power cord (USB). To keep it securely in the CD slot of my Prius, I had to turn the wing bolt quite far. (It warps the part that goes into the slot so as to wedge it against the upper and lower borders of the slot.) Hope that's not going to screw up the CD player. Addendum: Had to give up. It would not hold the TomTom securely enough and it kept falling out of the CD slot no matter how much I tightened the screw. I leave it two stars because I can't say that it won't work with other devices and CD players. Read more

In my 2010 Sonata, I have no convenient spot for a regular holder, I hate charger/holders with necks that you have to contort, and the vent clip seems like a good idea except for winter when you blast the heat. The CD method seemed least intrusive. Obviously it will depend on what car you have... the nature of this device requires part of your front console to be obstructed. Can't help it. My car, the only thing it blocks is the clock and CD display. Whatever. Those are on my phone anyway. PROS - can fit any phone (my iphone 5 was no prob), the side holders will slowly expand as you hold a button. Decent construction. Works as advertised, which is really the key thing. Also nice is that the bottom peg holders can rotate and slide across, so ports for the headphone/battery are always accessible. CONS - NO MANUAL! Putting this together does not require difficult maneuvers, but they're not exactly intuitive. A quick illustration on a card would have helped. Also, we'll see about the sturdiness. On a rocky road, it vibrates quite a bit, and I wonder if the socket will eventually loosen, or if the CD insert will need constant tightening, etc. For the moment, after a week, it's held up fine. Hopefully I'll get my money's worth and it'll endure. Read more

I listen to my iPod while driving, and wanted a holder. I tried one that fit into the cigarette lighter, but, the weight of the iPod made it twist, and the fit wasn't secure so the charger wasn't always charging.... it just didn't work. I didn't want one to attach to my windshield, there would be cords hanging, and I didn't want to have to attach something to my dash board. The Mounster fits securely into the cd slot, doesn't block access to any controls, and holds my iPod perfectly!!! I could not be more happy with it!!! It is easily removed if you want to play cds. I recommend this to anyone who needs to hold an iPod, phone, gps..... anything like that. It is great!! Read more

This product is great! I use it with my Galaxy phone in my Ford Edge. It fits perfectly and makes it easy to use the GPS or video chat in the car. (I don't drive and video chat, but I do use it for meetings and my kids love it.) My only complaint is that it's hard, not impossible, but hard to see the clock with the unit in the CD player because of the placement of the screw. It's not a big deal, and probably just the way my CD player and clock are set-up. In any event I would recommend this product. Read more

The quality of this mount feels as if it was a dollar store quality product. Mount came in poorly finished plastic parts with rough edges and visible cracks. Screws used to hold together the mount either: 1) didn't fit properly causing the gaps to appear in the plastic it held together 2) Have been overscrewed, stripping the plastic and not allowing the pieces to tighten. I was able to use this product for about 1 week before the cracks get big enough that it couldn't hold together and fell apart. I bought the Casology one mount in the same order. Much better finish, much better design. Read more
