Overall, the pens write well, but I had a couple of duds in the batch that had very spotty flow, or were already running out of ink. They don't seem to smear unless you're writing on laser paper and don't give a second for drying. The pens are definitely comfortable in the hand without needing a grip - it's probably because of the slightly larger than normal barrel.
