This poncho is one of those clothing items that’s simultaneously horrible and awesome. The fabric is obviously a cheap synthetic if you touch it or look at it from any closer than across the room, and the whole garment probably cost about $0.30 in materials, yet it’s super drapey and flattering and looks great layered over basically any clothing you could possibly want to wear. Growing up in the 90s, I would never have paid more than $12-15 for this even at a mall shop, and less would have seemed completely reasonable, but times (and prices) change. The neck opening is finished decently (see photo), I’ll give it that. The angled edges are just bound off so they won’t unravel, then allowed to roll up slightly as this stitch is wont to do. Visually, the neck and the edges match even though they aren’t technically the same. Every product photo at the top of the listing shows an inaccurate fabric texture, but the video has it right and so do the photos lower in the listing. It’s a loose, open knit that will snag on anything you give it a chance to snag on. In the meantime, it’s soft and takes up about the same amount of drawer space as a small tank top. It is also, being acrylic and polyamide, staticky from the moment you put it on (or at least from the moment I put it on, in 47% humidity), so although I’m tempted to wear it as a cool-weather accessory, I very likely won’t. I’ll wait until the humidity goes above 55% and probably sport this thing over a tank top or a strappy dress like a proper proud child of the late 90s/early 2000s. It’s like a shawl, but cooler, and while I’m wearing it I’ll fondly think back on every other acrylic outer layer I’ve worn to death before finally stashing it reluctantly in a plastic storage box two years after it’s gone out of style. Do I think it’s overpriced? Sure do. But it’s the kind of bad that’s good, a familiar kind of fragile, and it delivers exactly what I expect it to, so maybe the reminder of a happier time makes this worth a little more than it would be otherwise. This topper runs pretty small. I ordered the recommended size and still found it smaller than I was hoping. The neck opening is also kind of small and would not drape off shoulder. The fabric is good, lightweight and despite the things I didn't love about it - I will give it a whirl on an upcoming cruise. Decent value for the price - but I would definitely size up. Read more

This pink sheer beach cover-up is really cute, and I especially love the texture. It’s lightweight, pretty, and feels like a nice-quality piece for the price. I did take a chance on the sizing, though. I’m a plus-size woman, and based on the measurements, it *should* have fit, but I knew going in that it might run a little small. When it arrived, I really liked it, but it was clear just by looking at it that it wasn’t going to fit me. For reference, I’m about a size 20. Rather than forcing it, I gave it to my daughter, who’s smaller than I am, and she absolutely loves it. She plans to wear it over sleeveless tops when she doesn’t feel like going completely sleeveless, and over dresses as well. There are so many ways to style it beyond just using it as a beach cover-up. Even though it’s marketed as a beach cover-up, it’s versatile enough to wear with everyday outfits, and it looks really pretty layered over different pieces. My daughter was thrilled to get it, especially since she’d never owned a wrap like this before. Overall, I think this is a really nice little piece and good quality for the price.
