Great product, couldn't have asked for a more perfect screen. Works perfectly for a Raspberry Pi 5 8gb. I extended it from the board so I can put it inside my case. Will be buying more! Just note it's only at like 40 fps. Not fast, but perfect for linux. Read more

Review for the IPistBit 3.5" on a Raspberry Pi Buster Lite OS installation. If your using a Raspberry Pi as a video looper, you likely are using the older Buster Lite version of the operating system so you'll have access to the now deprecated OMXPlayer. Be aware that this device fails during the driver installation step when using a 'Lite' version of the Raspberry Pi OS. I was unable to find working installation instructions for the Raspberry Pi Lite OS. It seems from google searches this device only works on the full OS. I would love to be wrong though, the small screen looks good enough for a tiny video looper. Read more
I just received this screen and was impressed by the build quality. It feels super solid and I can’t wait to use it in my cyber deck. So far I just plugged it in to text it but the screen looks really nice. The colors are better than I expected for the price! I’d definitely recommend this one! Read more

*Product: "iPistBit 3.5 Inch Touchscreen Monitor, 480x320 LCD TFT SPI Display Display Compatible with Raspberry..." *Date of this review: Jan 30 2024 i wanted to use this on a pi5 (which isnt stated as supported , or the amzn listing hasnt been updated), but the listing does state: " Plug-and-Play Design Compatible with all versions of the Raspberry Pi" (not true, will kill the OS of your pi5) the Listing should be more clear on pi5 support (or not), and it even borderlines on misleading as this device absolutely is not "plug and play" regardless of your PI hardware version. Although they have taken steps to make the software install process as easy as possible. (5x commands with internet access). It should be noted that you're installing some pretty large modifications to the PI operating system in these five commands / steps. I briefly looked through the code / scripts they have you run, and they do not *appear* to be dangerous or malicious, although I did not do a thorough examination as that would take over a day. It's also worth noting that the code executed by these commands could change at anytime (But this code is available and viewable on Github, which is good). I also did a packet capture for about 45 minutes with the pi4 running along with this 3.5" display + its software installed (and the 3.5" screen attached ) - i was mainly looking for any malicious communications. I Did not see anything out of the ordinary (at all, and i checked every pub-IP the pi contacted). it should be noted I only did this for about 45 minutes of the pi being on, so malicious activity could occur later (or not at all). On a pi5 with bookworm, the pi usually will not boot, or will post/boot but right after the 3.5" screen flickers to black, it goes back to white (and the pi5 is powered off / crashes). It *did* work on a pi4 (and very well too!) - (i actually was able to just move the SD card that did *not* boot/work on the pi5 right over to a PI 4b and it booted right up and the 3.5" screen worked!) On my pi 5: after following the 3.5" screen's user guide linked here in the amazon listing as a PDF (ie after running a few cmds + sudo ./MHS35-show) , the pi correctly rebooted, but never would stay on (even WO the screen attached nor with hdmi attached!). thus my pi5 's OS is totally unbootable now (does not pull an IP). (the pi5 hardware is fine, its just the OS wont boot at all, now). I suggest users do what i did: clone your boot/SD card , then sure that clone boots successfully, and ONLY then do this software install on that cloned card as a test. (regardless of the Hardware version of your pi, ie pi 3, pi 4 ect..) Read more

It's fully functional with my raspberry Pi Zero 2W, but note that it does not work with newest version of Pi OS (Bookworm). You need to install the older version (Bullseye) for it to work out of the box. I figured this out by going onto the github repository that's linked in the box and looking at the open issues, there was one regarding the LCD35 screen installation that helped. The touchscreen and display both work. Display quality is not the best, and it's not an IPS screen meaning that the viewing angle is only optimal from directly in front of the screen, if you look at it from a tilted view it looks bad and hardly visible.
