As both a longtime Pokémon fan and casual TCG player, I jumped on Battle Academy 2—and I’m so glad I did! This set is seriously one of the best, most approachable ways to dive into the card game. Here’s why I love it: • Three complete decks – Each comes pre-constructed and ready to play, so you can jump into battles right out of the box. The decks feel well-balanced, with a fun variety of Pokémon, Trainer cards, and strategies. • Tons of versatile cards – Alongside the decks are over 100 additional cards to mix, match, and build custom decks. It’s perfect for experimenting without needing to buy boosters or trade. • Clear instruction book & playmat – The guide walks you through setup, gameplay, and even includes tips for advanced moves. The sturdy playmat keeps everything organized and adds a fun vibe to your game nights. • Great value – Battle Academy 2 gives you three ready-to-play decks, a playmat, a full rules guide, and a huge card pool—all in one box. It’s a fantastic deal, especially compared to buying separate decks or booster packs. • Perfect for all skill levels – We pulled this out at family game night, and even cousins who had never played were instantly hooked. The simple-to-understand instructions make it ideal for newcomers, but there’s enough depth to keep veterans engaged too. In short, Battle Academy 2 is a fantastic all-in-one set that hits the sweet spot between fun, learning, and replay value. Whether you’re just starting your Pokémon TCG journey or looking to refresh your skills, this set is a must-have! Read more

Great set to get started with. Got this for my son and it took no time at all to get hooked. Very well thought out instructions. 3 different decks to teach about different playing styles. Even the playing board has tips and instructions on it. It also has damage counters and a special coin for flip effects. Anyone looking to get started in pokemon TCG has to start with this. No question. My son and I play all the time now. Read more

Easy way to start your Pokémon journey. My child and I had a fun time learning and trying out the sample decks. Very good value for starting to play the game. Educational with great instructions to get started quickly. The included board was helpful to get all the cards in the right place. Not for those wanting to collect, but worth buying if you just want to play the game without a serious investment. Read more

A great starter kit for learning to play. You don’t get exposed to every mechanic in the game but the decks play smoothly enough. Great for kids old enough to be interested in playing the game, and you won’t waste money chasing cards to build decks, and the decks could be upgraded to make things more fun over time. Read more

Super fun starter set so my five year old can finally use her Pokémon cards from her happy meal. A good set to learn with. Some of the new rules are not how I remember them, so it’s a bit more complicated to play now than it was before. Special rules for boss style monsters that can sway the game quickly. Great deal for the price, has everything else we needed to get started. We like that it has three decks to play with which gives it some variety. All in all a nice set to learn with while keeping my older decks wrapped up safely until after we have practiced with this one. Pikachu and Eeve are fan favorite characters and were a selling point on this set, and earned extra smiles from the kiddo. I took off one star because I feel like the game is needlessly complicated for a little kids first starter set so it didn’t really fit my needs as well as I thought, but we are making it work with “modified starter” table rules as we go along, and introducing more complex things later. If you’re interested in learning the basics of what Pokémon cards are all about, this is a great set! I’ve played the video games for years, but never understood anything about the cards. This set makes it so easy to learn, and it comes with three pre-made decks of cards to play with, so you don’t even have to worry about the whole card-collection thing until you’re ready. It also has tokens to help you keep track of damage, a plastic coin for heads-or-tails decisions, and a board to help you keep track of how to organize your cards as you play. The game itself is simple enough for ages 6+ as it states (well, 5+ for very patient and mathematically gifted kiddo, maybe 8+ for a less patient one), but it’s definitely interesting enough for adults too. No previous knowledge of Pokémon is strictly required, so anyone can join in! Read more

This set is set up with 3 decks. Each has 22 Pokemon cards within a single element with several evolution lines, 18 energy cards of that element and 20 trainer cards which provides a functional playing deck. One of the pokemon cards in each deck is your V character card. The Pikachu and Cinderace decks are in order when you get them to follow the included tutorial so don't mix them up yet. If you do mix them up they are numbered one to sixty so you can put them back in order. The Eevee booklet explains rules and card types and rules are also on the board to help remind you. The board is not a mat, it's a boardgame board. There's also damage counters and a cute coin with the 3 characters. Great value if you are a beginner. Read more
