Beautiful, fun, active. A HUGE hit! Ages 5-12ish
The media could not be loaded. I was honestly blown away by this product! I had to leave a review. My children love Pokémon, and one of my children in particular seems to have ADHD and I struggle to get him as much engaging activity as he needs throughout the day. I saw a review on YouTube comparing and contrasting three Poké ball toys, and this one looked like a winner… Man oh man, was it ever! I got one for my four-year-old son, and one for my six-year-old son, who I mentioned has ADHD. The four year-old did not like the toy much… I think he is a little bit young, and not as with the names of Pokémon was not a great fit for him. For my six-year-old, and my two older children who have begged for turns playing with this toy, it has been awesome! Briefly, let me describe how to play with this toy. You turn it on, and it begins telling your child that they are about to go on an adventure to explore and capture Pokémon to become a great Pokémon trainer. It reminds me of the “brain breaks” on YouTube because basically the narrator tells you you’re walking through a forest, or a field, or you’re swimming in the ocean, and stop! You’ve just seen a Pokémon! It tells you the name of the Pokémon, and in order to capture the Pokémon, you have to complete some kind of action such as shaking the Poké ball back-and-forth quickly, or turning around several times, or some other action that the sensor in the Poké ball will detect. Then you either capture the Pokémon, or the Pokémon escapes because you were not quick enough, etc. It is super entertaining both to the child and to anyone who was observing the child, lol. In our experience, the sensor works very well. My children have not become frustrated, and based on my own observation, when a Pokémon escapes it is because my child was just not following the instructions quickly / energetically enough for the sensor. Overall I highly recommend this for children between the ages of maybe 5 1/2 all the way through tween ages. I do not know yet about the replay value, but the Poké ball also does keep track of all the Pokémon you have captured, and will recite the list for you at the push-up a button. It also comes with a beautiful map that shows a “path” with the Pokémon that will be encountered along the way, you can check off the Pokémon as you capture them. Read more
