This has been a great device for easily converting VHS tapes and mini DVs and other formats into either a USB stick or TFF card for easy transfer to a computer hard drive. Note that it has to be fully charged in order for the videos (from VHS at least) to be readable on a computer; otherwise the files can't be played on a computer. But once it's plugged in and charged up everything works fine and it's easy to use. Read more

I purchased this VHS to Digital Converter for my husband, who has a collection of media on VHS that he wants to convert to a digital format. Wow! This digital converter is fantastic and easy to use! Everything about it exceeded my husband's expectations. - Comes in a nice sturdy box for storage. - Outstanding quality of design, components, and construction. All of the ports are easy to access on the converter box. - Informative and easy to follow instructions. - Comes with all of the cables you need, plus a remote control unit. - Very easy to use with excellent digital quality of both visual picture and sound after the conversion. No jumpy or skipping digital video. - Can pause at any time, and come back to the conversion. Can also take snapshots of individual frames. - A terrific value. I highly recommend this product. Captured an entire box of video with little to no trouble it's very user friendly. Quality of the video is the same or better than the capture source, the VHS. And you can get way with a 32gig SD card and it won't fill up for many hours of video you don't need anything huge. Read more

was cautiously optimistic based on the reviews and i could not be happier now that i’ve used it! this thing works so well! in the past i used converters that connected to a computer and you had to use software to capture the video which worked ok but id get distortions in the picture sometimes. But with this product the picture is stable 99% of the time and it’s so easy to use! also, it automatically detects if the video source is PAL or NTSC which i didn’t think to check so am very happy it does that straight out of the box. one thing to keep in mind is you have to connect a usb storage device for the files to get saved to and they recommend only flash drives and not external HDD or SSD unless those have their own power supplies. the device is not made to provide power to such drives so using those may have negative effects on the video capture such as lagging and file corruption Read more

This is a fantastic little digitizer. I have spent at least 18 hours using it and it does very well. I have digitized both VHS and Hi8 using the S-video line. The playback quality is really good, there is no issue with videos with a lot of motion getting blurry like I had with my older computer based digitizer. Keep in mind this does not upscale but it does give you options to change sample rate and resolution of the capture of the device itself which is very nice....there is no degrading between the media on tape to the digitized media which is great. The only issue I have ran into is that some old VHS tapes would have a space that would have data rot and the digitizer would try to sense if the media was NTSC or PAL at that moment and stop recording....this only happened a few times but wasn't a problem since I was monitoring recordings the whole time. Some other great things about this digitizer is that it has a great little internal monitor screen with speaker so you can use this box alone with the VCR or Camcorder or you have the option to plug it into HDMI and actually watch it on a tv while you digitize. I put a 512GB TF card in mine but found it was best to transfer data off TF card after every tape to not get confused of data on card...i don't believe you can rename files on device itself so can get messy with lots of tapes digitized. Each VHS tape is around 10GB of data so you can use a much smaller TF card than what I bought. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this digiter for the money and its very simple to setup and use. Your results may vary based on your VHS data or the VCR you use but my results with S-Video has been very pleasing. Read more

I had a setup on my computer to digitize my vhs tapes but it would store it on the computer, then I would have to move it to an extended storage. This converter doesn't even need a computer, you hook it up to your VHS player and to your extended storage, and that's it. Easy to use and great quality. Read more

Fantastic product, so far! I have a few old camcorders with media containing a lot of precious memories. I hooked it all up and started recording from my 8mm tapes. I recorded to a 128GB usb drive. After recording a few scenes, I popped the drive into my computer and played a couple of them. Works perfectly! Picture is as good as it is on the tape as is the audio. Sounds is really good and matches up to people’s mouths. It’s easy to connect everything. I think the value for the money is great! I contacted a few places and it’s very expensive to have them do it. I highly recommend this product! Read more

I am totally impressed with this Portta VHS to digital converter. I've tried many different devices to digitize my Video cassettes, most were complicated and video quality and audio was not the best. This unit was so simple to set up and get started right away and it worked perfectly. Video and audio was exceptional. I was able to hook up an old computer monitor to view the tapes by simply using the HDTV output which made viewing so much easier. The best part was recording to the USB flash drive and playback on my computer to perform some editing. As you can see from the picture, that's all I needed to complete the job. You will not be disappointed with this productand, it has a 2 year warranty. Read more
