I never thought the PS5 was a very attractive design and always felt that the white color made the design look even worse. I didn't even realize the side panels were removable until I saw these aftermarket accessories being offered. They're made from thick, quality plastics and seem very comparable to the original white panels. Installation wasn't hard after I watched a couple YouTube videos showing how to remove them and the new panels snap on much like the OEM panels and fit well. I think the console looks so much better in a matte black, my only complaint being that they seem to be a dust magnet, but overall they work as intended and are a much better option than something like vinyl skins. Yes, I admit it. I have a PS5 disk edition that overheats. There, I said it. It's not all the time and inconsistent on certain games. Completely annoying though when it freezes and you have to wonder when it saved last while you go through the restart and guilt trip about the external drive not being disconnected properly. Where my PS5 sits, doesn't get the best air flow, but it's not in a box. These vented covers can't hurt to let some more air flow right? The instructions weren't the clearest and I did have to find a video online to make sure I was removing the old covers correctly and not damaging anything. The new covers slid on just like the old ones and is a quick easy job if you know how to do it or watched someone else. The black plastic is a little more stealthy than the factory white, but may show a little more dust. I like the change the black though. So far I haven't had any overeheating issues, but I have not used the PS5 a lot. I also took the opportunity to blow out the dust bunnies while the cover was off, so it could be a combo of things. I do think these are worth grabbing if you have overheating issues and want to change up your color scheme. Read more
