I've waited about a year after application before submitting this review to provide assurance that the patch stabilized the front crowns -- a fairly typical place for tears -- of two of my "Panama" hats, both fairly fragile. The patches have stayed in place and worked well. I've also finally learned to put-on and take-off these hats by the back, not the front of the crown. The patches are worth the price. Read more

For those of you with UV-sensitive scalps and straw hats, this is an incredible product. They are thick, quick, easy to install, and well made (not at all cheap!) with good material and glue. I broke the golden rule and grabbed my $200 Akubra rabbit felt hat by the crown so the hole at the point is on me. After hearing the doom and gloom from all the forums about the fools' errand of attempting to fix the hole/crack in felt I took a chance. Wasn't expecting too much as this product was originally intended for a straw hat. HOWEVER I was very pleasantly suprised. it arrested the hole and is holding form. Really satisfied, this repair patch us great. But DON'T be like me. Remember folks to only grab your hat by the brim and always leave it upside down as to not alter the shape!! I was at first concerned the patch had to be the same exact shade as my hat; it did not. The patch is extremely easy to use; peel off the backing and apply. I'd recommend a test placement prior to peeling off the backing as the adhesive is very strong. My hat had a break / tear at the peak. This patch is designed to fit right into that difficult angle. Once applied the patch pulls the two edges of the torn area together and the tear disappears - that's how tight this patch holds. The tear has virtually disappeared and the patch will act as a reinforcement on this part of my hat which takes the most bending / flexing. Thank you for making the perfect patch for straw hats.
