I got this because I wanted a flowy summer skirt that I could dress up or down. The floral print caught my eye and I loved the idea of a high waisted smocked style with pockets. Prettygarden makes such high quality and beautiful clothes, this skirt is no exception. It's gorgeous. The first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the package was how light and flowy the fabric is. It is very lightweight and has that soft comfy feel. It is double lined which adds some weight to the sheer fabric in a good way. It does not feel cheap or flimsy. The pink floral print is super cute and exactly what I was hoping for. It will look phenomenal paired with a white tank in the heat of summer. What works well is the overall look and feel. The fabric is soft and the skirt moves nicely when you walk. The tiered and pleated design creates that flowy swing that is so feminine. I love that it has pockets. They do add a little bulk but because the skirt is flowy it is not a big deal. You barely notice. The length is good on my 5 foot 4 frame. Here is the thing I wish I had known about the fit. I am 5 foot 4 with a 29 inch waist and 39 inch hips. I ordered my usual medium and it fits me fine. But I wish I had sized up. Due to the smocked waistband, I do not like those to look tight and this does a bit on me. It is not bad, but it is not giving that A line shape that the model shows. If I had sized up it would have been more loose and flowy in the waist and would have created that true A line silhouette. It also would have given me a little more length which would have been nice. So if you are curvy like me with hips, I would definitely size up so the smocked waist actually creates that A line for you instead of pulling tight. One thing to be aware of is the fabric. It is a poly material and I am not too sure how well it will breathe in really hot weather. It is lightweight but poly does not breathe like cotton. I will have to see how it feels on a really humid day. I think this is best for anyone who wants a cute floral skirt for summer. It is versatile and you can pair it with crop tops, tank tops, blouses, whatever. Just size up if you want that flowy A line look. Overall it is a cute skirt. I’m not new to this PRETTYGARDEN brand here on Amazon. I’ve had great luck with some of their pieces and have been pleasantly surprised with the fit and quality at an affordable price. This skirt, unfortunately, isn’t my favorite. I think some of my opinions in this review are subjective and a matter of taste, so take it with a grain of salt. I’m hard to please when it comes to paisley, and the print on this skirt seems chaotic and too monochromatic for my taste. Some of my family member really loved the print though, and the monochromatic coloration does actually make it more versatile and fit together with other pieces more easily than something with several different color schemes. The skirt is just long enough (I’m 5’8”), it is lined for opacity, and of course the elastic waistband makes it super comfortable. I do have an issue with elastic waistbands, as they tend to ride up on my torso throughout the day, but I guess it’s the price I’m willing to pay for comfort. The fact that this particular waistband is wider puts a huge check mark in the “pro” category- because these wider bands do help to smooth my belly and make me feel a little more “sucked in” and smoothed out, if you know what I mean. I like the sheerness of the outer skirt layer because it does add a bit of elegance and movement, yet the solid lining ensures I don’t accidentally moon anyone. It is true to size and, just by nature of the roomy skirt and extra stretchy waistband, this skirt can fit a wide range of body types and sizes. The ruffled lower section of the skirt is a subtle feature that adds an extra little pop of cuteness and shape. I’m not good at knowing about various types of fabrics, but I believe the material for this is a polyester or poly-blend type that you find in most affordable clothing these days. Love! I am big into maxi skirts.
