First, the knives are okay, not great. This would make for a good starter set for someone heading off to school in their first apartment. The holder is about as cheap as they come, is cumbersome, and should be tossed and knives just put in a drawer. For $30 for 6 knives, though, it's worth what it costs. Read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this knife set. They are sharp and have a really nice durable handle.. The knife stand is pretty flimsy but still functional. This is going to make a great gift for a recently moved out of the house bachelor. One specific item worth mentioning that really impressed me. Is that the included peeler is ceramic and wicked sharp. I was able to use it to peel a section of the skin off a tomato. Read more

These are not the sharpest knives I’ve tried. I had high hopes for these as my other knives were falling apart, I needed a new set. First off I ordered these in blue, and they came as a marbled black/purple instead. Second, I wasn’t and am still not enthusiastic about the potato peeler being made of all plastic. I can’t see it lasting long with how much we eat potatoes around here. The knives are sharp-ish, but not as sharp as I’d like them to be, and the handles, though comfortable in the hand, don’t feel like they will last long. Their weight seems proportional though, making them easy to use. They look good on my counter, so that’s a plus. I will sharpen these with my sharpener and we will see if that improves them. But for now I don’t have high hopes for their durability and longevity. Read more

decent starter set. looked as the description outlined. the white and wood is actually clear with wood looking handles and a white peeler. Handles are hollowish plastic but are easy to hold, however after a few washes through the dishwasher you can see the wood pattern starting to fade and wear off a bit. the knives work for your everyday basic things, but if you're using at a high volume on more difficult things, they might not be as sharp as you'd prefer. I think its a great set for the first time house for my sister especially for the price. Read more

I really like these knives. My old knives became dull, making even basic kitchen tasks a pain. I got these because I like the way they look, and they do not disappoint in real life. The purple veins throughout the black handles is quite nice and compliments my kitchen. The blades are metal and the handles are a hollow plastic. The blades are quite sharp, being able to cut the skin of a tomato without crushing it. The holder is black plastic and light. Even though it is light, it is quite sturdy. It comes with the blade holders all pointing upwards (so it fits into a smaller box) and you pull them down until they "click" into place to make it look like the picture. The peeler is a nice touch, but I feel it looks out of place there and is not the easiest to remove and replace, but that is a minor complaint. My only real complaint is about the handles being hollow. They feel so light, so empty, so weak. They are not weak - I banged the dull side of one of the blades onto my chopping board several times, pretty hard (but not stupid hard) and it did not wiggle or come loose at all. It simply FEELS cheap and weak even though it is not. I chose not to ding them anything for the blades being hollow and cheap feeling since the rest of it is so well done...plus the price is very good. For the price, I do not expect a solid wood handle or such, so it would be silly to ding them for it. These are great knives, I can honestly recommend them. I cannot say how long the blades remain sharp, but it they go dull too soon, I will return and amend this review. No amendment means they are working as expected. :) Read more

Nice set of knives. The handle feels great within the hand. The holder works well, but I have concerns about durability of the plastic hinge the holds all of the blade covers together. The material of the plastic holder does not seem like it will last long and it seems difficult to clean. I also have concerns about putting these knives into the dishwasher. The handles feel nice and soft in your hand when first opened, but I believe the strong chemicals used in the dishwasher will dissolve the coating overtime. The selection of knives in this kit are perfect for cutting many different types of food items in the kitchen. At this price point, this is not a bad purchase as long as you don’t mind handwashing your knives. Read more

Sharp knives, nice balance. These are not for commercial chefs, but for home use they are great. High carbon steel blades hold a razor sharp edge. If you are good with a honing stone and a strop, you can keep these knives sharp enough to shave with. I slice through soft tomatoes and eggs with ease, no squashing or sawing, just an effortless glide through. The blades are thin which makes them great for fine slicing as well. The rack is not my favorite, so I am using a butcher block rack that I have had for years, nothing wrong, I am just not a fan of clear acrylics in my kitchen. The handles are finished in nice greyish (Like pickled wood with light color tones). The fillet knife is great for trimming, it is long enough and thin enough to easily maneuver and cuts in one pass. I have not had any fish recently to try filleting of fresh fish, however if the current cutting capabilities are any indication, I will not be disappointed. The Chefs knife is great, has a nice stiff back bone with a nice balance for chopping. The bread knife is extra long and works very well, cuts without any force needed. The pairing knife is great for small work, (Unfortunately, my wife thinks its a great letter opener because it cuts so well!). Overall I do all of the cooking for a family of six, plus entertaining routinely and weekly meal prepping so these knives get a work out. They have continually impressed me. I waited to do the review until I was able to try them several times and clean them. Like any good knife, do not leave them in water, you will have to hone it now and then, so order a really good stone set not a battery sharpener! Read more
