Best standard home/apartment filter money can buy, assuming your A/C system takes 1" filters. Some Points: -Activated carbon (also called activated charcoal) is a must because it helps with VOCs that attack your body at a microscopic level and cause aging. It can also remove ozone. -MERV 13 isn't as good as a HEPA filter, but your home/apartment A/C probably isn't compatible with a HEPA filter. This filter is the BEST POSSIBLE 1" AIR FILTER you can use in your home/appt. Period. -While you can technically purchase a MERV 14-16 air filter (better particulate matter filtration than this one), that level of filtration is literally unavailable for 1" air filters. This air filter is the best you can get if you need a 1" air filter. -The activated carbon in this air filter will target all scents in the air for removal. This includes fun stuff like scented candles, perfume, plug-in air scents, etc. However, this is a good thing, because air is filthy. Ozone and nitrogen dioxide are so bad for you over time that it is worth this trade-off. Purchase this air filter. What I'd Like to See in the Future: -Improved activated carbon sheet-filter technology. Sheet-based activated carbon is inferior to pellet-based activated carbon, but with a 1" filter, you HAVE to use sheet-based. I'd like to see PuroAir max out how much carbon it can fit into this filter. This is especially important since activated carbon has a limit on how much it can absorb, like ozone. -Slim down or find a way to eliminate the black support cross-grid bars on the filter itself.
