I have never owned airpods, or any other earbuds of a similar shape as these. There's maybe a tiny amount of bass and sound depth, but not nearly as much as my larger set of earphones that cover my ears. But I wasn't really hoping for perfect quality sound through these. I was hoping for something that sounded good "enough", that I could wear instead of my larger earphones when I went outside. ( I have a habit of hitting my larger earphones on things because I'm not used to accounting for the space they take. ) The mic seemed "okay" as well. I could be heard, but it wasn't really anything to rave about. ( I tested them in a zoom test. ) I'm not sure if I really experience any noise canceling with them. I think you might need to get some things right that I have difficulty with -- such as the size of the earpiece. I'm using two different sizes right now and can't really tell the difference. The noise doesn't seem to be "cancelled", though it might be partially blocked / physically muffled. I like they way they fit in the ear. They are comfortable, not overly tight. They can fall out, but usually don't -- I've only had it happen once, so far. There is one thing about the controls that is a little unusual to me -- there is no way to adjust the volume through the earbuds. The bluetooth connection is pretty good. I like the way they can connect to two different devices and switch between them. They don't have additional weird features. I have another set of earbuds that have a weird LCD screen and odd features like tiny little games and a splash screen that you can change. These are much more subtle. There's a case that also charges the earbuds. It has an LED that tells you enough information to know if the battery in the case is charging. The earbuds sit inside, with the left earbud on the left side and the right earbud on the right side (as they face you). Each only fits on its own side. There is an LED on each earbud that shows when the earbud is being charged by the case. I haven't noticed any issues with battery life. As I'm new to these kinds of earbuds, when I first tried to put them in my ears, I couldn't find the 'L' or 'R' that is usually marked on earbuds, and attempted to put the first one in the wrong ear. I noticed that it seem to get more snug as I turned it toward the top of my head. It all made sense when I put in the other ear instead. Right now these are about $27. I think it's well worth the money for a backup set of earbuds. Maybe even worth $10 more. Read more

I’ve used QCY earbuds for some time. This is at least my 5ᵗʰ or 6ᵗʰ pair of ANC type from this maker. Why the affinity for QCY’s? Having used a number of different brands, the single biggest feature, for me, is that they not only fit, but they stay in my ears! I don’t care how good the sound quality is, if one of them falls in a garbage disposal, or a commode, or blows out the window, you lose the stereo effect, and it’s just not as much fun. I’m not sure why these fit and stay in. Easier to point at some others, often 10x or more the price ‘buds that have great, large, high-tech drivers (the diaphragm and associated parts that physically create the sound), great reputations and superlative specifications, but are top-heavy and fall right out of my ears. Another top end maker’s products are just too large to fit in my ear canals. And another top brand pretended to fit but flew out of my ears first time I turned my head. Another mid-level player with better spec’s and looked like a virtual copy of these ‘buds design but wouldn’t stay in my ears: it’s a very important factor. These N20 ‘MeloBuds’ seem a little bigger than the classic T-20’s I’ve been using for a while, but are still a great fit. They seem to have a deeper bass response, but maybe slightly less distinction in the lower midrange. The noise canceling seems to have gotten a little better. I think there are more ANC choices in the app. Typical for most earbuds, you have to get the maker’s app, create a login, and customize any settings for a better experience. Things like ANC settings, and click-patterns are adjusted in the app. The defaults are usable, but I like certain things like triple-click the left earbud to step back a chapter. This app has a ‘find me’ feature that will play a very loud tone in one or both earbuds. I’ve used this to find a lost bud in a large room. Each new gen brings new features. One feature I’ve enjoyed, and it may be standard with the Bluetooth version, is the ability to connect to several devices at once. It’s long been possible to register the Bluetooth connection on any number of devices, but to use it with dev. 2 involved some trickery like turning off Bluetooth on dev 1, or going through setup again, and so on. Now (I think it’s called ‘promiscuous mode’), after the earbuds’ connection is registered on dev 2, if no other device is actively using them, just go to settings and choose ‘connect’ and it connects them immediately. I believe that only one device at a time can actively use them, and it may cost some batterypower for them to scan for connections, it’s too early for me to tell. This is a fairly nice ear buds. It was easy to connect via Bluetooth. The sounds quality is nice and clear. It does not seem faded or static at all. This is probably the best you can get without comparing it to famous brands. The noise cancelling part of this headphones is quite good. It does its part of removing a lot of the background noise whenever it is on. Battery life is great. You get about 40 hours battery life per charge. The black color is good. It does not get dirty and somewhat shiny. This is a good recommendation if you don't want to spend a lot of money on noise cancelling headphones. Read more
