I’ve used these for years and they really work. I usually take them every other day, but if I feel a cold sore coming on, I’ll take three a day and it helps calm things down fast. The ingredients are great — lysine, vitamin C, and herbal support — all without anything harsh. No taste or burn up. They’re not super easy to swallow if you’re a beginner but you can have with or without food. A staple in my wellness cabinet. Read more
So with all the hype and hysteria about coronavirus, I decided I need to boost my own immune system and start washing hands more frequently. The day I started taking this, I saw my guy later. The next day he tells me he is not feeling well and probably has something. I knew I was going to get sick because when you kiss somebody you provide a direct transport for a virus. Sure enough my symptoms started the next day (Tuesday - mild fever, worst sore throat, mild achiness, fatigue, sibus congestion, head feels like exploding) and I immediately left work and self quarantined. By Wednesday my boyfriend reported he tested positive for influenza A. So I did not feel a doctor visit was needed. I continued to take the super lysine and we talked every day (fever ended Thursday afternoon). My symptoms were definitely not as severe as his and by the 4th day (Friday) I was feeling much better and stopped taking the Lysine. I still was feeling a bit tired and not 100%. By the Sunday evening I started coughing and did not take the Lysine as I felt the coughing was a residual of the time I had a fever. The cough worsen and worsen without fever or any other symptoms - just coughing and fatigue. Days went by and the coughing was just horrible and so hard to the point a bit of blood showed up in my sputum (not alot of congestion and not alot of sputum but what did come out was yellow). I went to doctor just for something to help with coughing at night. I was managing with lots of tea with honey, pineapple juice and robitussin but sleeping was nearly impossible. On top of everything is its allergy season and so differentiation between the effect of this virus and allergies was difficult. After about 4 weeks the coughing majorly subsided but now occasionally I think from allergies. Two days prior to this post I developed a sore throat which I felt was more bacterial and started the Lysine again. Yesterday the sore throat improved and by this morning it ia gone. This stuff works. I didn't take it for coughing because I had no fever and felt the coughing was some kind of left over effect feom the virus and was just a symptom. Now I'm wondering if it was actually coronavirus as some people who got positive flu show positive for coronavirus. The good news is I have been self quarantined this entire time to avoid spreading to others. Nobody else in my family has gotten sick. :) Read more
I have suffered with canker sores since I was a baby. I am sure like others, canker breakouts happen more frequently when I am stressed or not getting enough sleep. Throughout my life, I could easily go over a year or more without a canker. I am now in my late 40’s, and for some reason, the painful breakouts are now practically constant. I’ve used lysine in the past and had okay results…this product is different. I take 2 in the morning and 2 at night - not suggesting you follow me - just being transparent. Within a couple days, the sores were less painful and shrinking. A couple more days - completely gone. Most important is consistency. These are now part of a daily routine in hopes for a lasting canker-free life. If you’re suffering and tried all the toothpastes, rinses, topicals, etc to no avail - give these a try. I hope super lysine helps others the way it’s helped me. Read more
Product seems to work well but it requires frequent reapplication. It would only stay for 1 to 2 weeks and you got to be applied again or the fleas seem to come back again so it's not a long-term solution. Read more
I think this is my second bottle of SuperLysine. It really helps with fever blister & cold sore symptoms. Read more
My first experience with Lysine was as a kid, I would regularly get AWFUL canker sores (note: these are different than cold sores) in my mouth (which I now know is from eating acidic or super sugary foods/candies) that would last for weeks and make it painful to eat, brush my teeth, etc. My grandfather actually recommended taking Lysine supplements for that and I didn't get another canker sore for years! Even after I stopped regularly taking the supplements. As for cold sores, I contracted HSV1 as an adult and immediately took to the internet for home remedies to prevent getting them altogether. Lysine supplements consistently popped up and I spoke to my doctor about it who highly encouraged taking the supplements to help prevent and/or lessen the severity of an outbreak. I noticed that a cold sore would pop up during periods of extreme stress or when I had some sort of hormonal imbalance (aka when I was switching to a new hormonal birth control method and my body was still adjusting) but after a while of taking these supplements, when I did get one, they were WAY less severe and didn't come on as quickly (giving me time to start taking the anti-viral pill prescribed by my doctor before it got too bad). Overall, I have no idea whether these supplements are what is actually causing my cold sores to be less severe or if it's just my body being better able to fight the infection over time (antibodies - yay!) but it's certainly worth it to try. Especially if you suffer from regular, severe HSV outbreaks. The bottle recommends taking three pills a day: one in the morning, one around lunch, and one around dinner time on an empty stomach but if you're anything like me.. your stomach is never empty except for in the morning right after waking up (lol!). I started taking all three first thing in the morning before heading to work and it seems to work just fine. One major thing I did notice right after starting these supplements is that I would start to feel a little anxious about mid morning. which the internet informed me was due to the licorice in this product. Apparently licorice raises your blood pressure.. who knew! After a while my body got used to it and I stopped getting this feeling, but it's definitely something to discuss with your doctor if you have issues with your blood pressure already. Other than that, these seem great. I haven't noticed any sort of bad odor and they seem to be pretty tasteless. Read more
