Took a chance and glad I did
Bottom line, we needed something better to sleep on, and we're on a tight budget, so buying a "name brand" mattress (let alone one squeezed into a box) was out of the question. I decided to check Amazon, what the heck and lo and behold ... yet another rabbit hole with many, many to choose from. This Burfly mattress was literally the first one I chose at random from the long list of sub-$200 products. The reviews are mostly enthusiastic, the specs and warranty look good, and not really wanting to wade through twenty more choices and hundreds of reviews I just went on gut feeling and bought it right then and there. So glad I did! The mattress arrived in a 60" long by about 16" square, very heavy box. Managed to maneuver it into the bedroom by myself but you should probably get two people on that task. Unrolled it on the bedframe and slit the vacuum bag with the included slicer tool (nice touch Burfly, thank you). PSSSssssssssst and this thing starts to rise like a giant biscuit. Was pretty cool actually watching and hearing it inflate. It went to 10 inches high very quickly. Burfly says to let it inflate for 72 hours but we tested it immediately and flopped out. VERY comfortable. Fairly firm but not rigid, fairly soft but not marshmallowy. The mattress would be fine for sleeping on its own but we went royal and topped it with a piece of queen-size 3" thick memory foam. Ahhhhhh. SO much better than what we had before. As some others have noted, it's a little less supportive around the edges, so sitting on the edge feels a little "slidey" but just place your butt a little farther back onto the mattress and you'll be ok for putting on socks and shoes. Really a good purchase for the money, if it lasts. I'll update the reiew if something goes wrong but for now -- highly recommended. Read more
