Amazing results, easy to use, works brilliantly - this is not a paid review, bought it myself

I'd rather be in HawaiiDecember 18, 2025

Absolutely amazing stuff. I skeptically tried this in 50 degree weather, outside light winter sunlight. Filled 2 small chips following instructions. I noticed small crack lines still existed so I used my heat gun from the inside, which filled the cracks completely before my eyes in amazement. Shocked how easy, and inexpensive it is. Highly recommend it. Recommend using heat gun or blow dryer for best results. Read more

Remember that it’s a repair, not an un-do button!

SarahDecember 15, 2025

The Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit did exactly what I needed it to do for a chip I got in my car windshield, especially considering the timing. I used this kit to deal with a small star chip, and I was particularly concerned about it spreading during the cold winter months. I'm happy to report that the kit performed very well in stopping the damage from spreading. Since applying the resin, the chip has remained stable, preventing it from turning into a long, dangerous crack, which is a huge relief and definitely the most important job this kit had. The Reality Check: Now, for expectations: while it stabilized the chip, it's important to understand that the crack is not gone and the spot is not completely invisible. You can still see the repaired area when you look closely. It's not a magic eraser that makes the glass flawless again, but it greatly minimizes the visibility and, crucially, reinforces the area. Summary: If you have a small chip or starburst and your main goal is to prevent it from spreading and turning into an expensive replacement job, this Rain-X kit is a great, reliable, and quick solution. It was a worthwhile investment that saved my windshield from getting worse during the winter. Just remember that it’s a repair, not an un-do button! Read more

Use the Permatex brand instead

Lucas R.December 3, 2025

The resin only works if you have intense direct sunlight. The plastic application device is pretty much useless. Having used the Permatex version of this, its suction style applicator is much easier to use and gives better results in the end. Read more

Saved me a windshield replacement

BFDecember 23, 2025

I bought the Rain-X 600001 Windshield Repair Kit for a second time after a rock chip started turning into a small “star” crack, and I wanted to stop it from spreading. The kit was easy to use, and the repair noticeably reduced the appearance of the chip while also helping keep the damage from getting worse. Most important thing is to read the directions! What I liked most is that it’s a true DIY solution: it’s designed to pull air out of the break and fill it with resin, and the whole process only takes a short amount of time if you follow the steps carefully. It’s best for smaller chips (about 1 inch or less) and shorter cracks (up to around 12 inches), so it’s not a miracle fix for major damage. For me it worked really well. Read more

Leaky mess!!

Will GSeptember 23, 2024

I will preface by saying that I have done a lot of maintenance and repairs on my car, and as an artist I have worked with resin casting and coating for years. That said, this was a tough kit to work with. I had two small chips in the center of my windshield I wanted to reinforce so I decided to give this product a try. The first hurdle was getting the applicator base completely centered on these tiny chips - though I will say that once in place those suction cups are not going *anywhere* until you pull the tabs, they're very strong and hold the base in place very well. The largest source of frustration for me lies with the choice in design for the resin bottle. The cap does not lock in any way, it just kind of sits on top and does not give any kind of seal to the bottle, which means it will leak. EVERYWHERE. Not only did this create a mess but this also means it's not good to store for a later use, making it a wasteful one use item. Finally, there is nothing stopping you from over tightening the pressure driver. There's no safety stopper, not even a marking or a diagram in the instructions - it simply says to tighten until it is "almost all the way in", which is vague and subjective. I learned very quickly that what I thought was "almost in" was enough to physically push the resin chamber up off my windshield. I believe that this step prevented my application from being as effective as it could have been. I kept checking from inside and could still see a dark spot indicating bubbles, so I kept adding more and more resin. By the end I had put 6 drops into the chamber and when I removed the applicator base from the glass, I could still physically see this tiny chip was still empty as all the resin started to run down my windshield. Luckily I had the curing strips in hand and could catch it all before it got too far. Ultimately I wound up peeling the curing strip back enough to apply resin directly from the bottle and that seemed to work okay, but the resin never quite filled it all the way (this chip's circumference is barely larger than a needle's eye, it should have been much easier to force the air out and resin in...) All these things combined meant that messes were all too easy to make. I believe myself to be a careful person, yet when I got in my car to park in the sun I had no less than 10 rogue drips scattered across my windshield and my hands still stink of it from repeatedly having to touch the leaky bottle. All in all, it took a full hour to fill two tiny chips. Did it work? More or less (which is why it gets 2 stars). But I will probably pay someone else to do this next time. Read more
