Definitely a mature scent profile - this cologne reminds me of where I grew up in the South Jersey Pine Barrens. Quite mornings with the fog rising from the trees the wet dew on the grass. Something about it brings me back. Up front you get a strong pine/old school barbershop vibe. Slightly creamy on the dry down into a solid woods scent that stays with me all day. It is a compliment getter but definitely not meant for a young man. This is for a more mature man that wants to smell clean, off the beaten path of what everyone else is wearing these days and for it being an EDT it really wears like an EDP. Whats more manly than tobacco, leather, and rugged pine forests? Not much. I am a man thats right at 40. Yes, the 26 year old at work makes comments about my "old man" cologne, so younger folks <30 may not appreciate this one. That said, it still gets complements from the full range of women [and men, haha] and definitely lasts all day, if not longer. This cologne is fresh, sophisticated, mature, and professional. Dry off is tobacco heavy IMO, which can be off putting to some, however I work in a shop with lots of smokers; this scent helps mask alot of that smell as well. Not my "dress to impress" smell, but a good daily in the shop. Also, if your significant other likes the lingering sents, or having "old shirts to remind," this one is a great choice. It's the one that hangs around on my coat day after day and I'm glad it is. The blue has been my favorite Polo EDT for 20+ years, but this one is very close. Polo Green is an absolute legend in the fragrance world and it’s easy to see why. Polo Green is basically masculinity in a bottle. It’s a classic scent that makes one think of dad coming in from chopping wood on a cold, snowy day with a tobacco pipe hanging out of his mouth. He comes in and places a big, strong hand on your shoulder as you play. All is right. Polo Green hits right away with tobacco. Leather and patchouli come on a few minutes later and some pine comes in on the dry down. It’s a definite cool-weather fragrance that seems especially appropriate for Christmas time. One could wear it year round, but its notes definitely lend to cold weather. It’s my go-to from October-February. Polo Green isn’t a flashy fragrance. It wears its heart on its sleeve and it’s unapologetic in its masculinity. This fragrance has been around since 1978 for a reason— it’s just a solid, straight down the middle classic. It won’t be for everyone. Those who don’t enjoy tobacco scents won’t enjoy this one. It’s definitely different from most modern fragrances. In the best possible way. It’s not cheap. By all accounts, this isn’t a budget fragrance. But a little goes a long way. And 3-4 sprays will have you evoking the energy of a classic man’s man. If you’re looking for something classic and manly, go Polo Green! Red and Blue have their strengths too, but Green remains my personal champion among Polo’s line. Read more
