Problems with double typing

LiltroubleOctober 11, 2024

I cannot recommend this keyboard. I initially gave it 5 stars but it is one star now due to a double typing issue that affects all the Blackwidow V4's. It frequently double types on various keys, and changing the polling rate lower is suppose to help, but it does not. I do not know if the problem is in Synapse 4 software, or the keyboard itself. I will not use this keyboard until the problem is fixed. Read more

Product issue

Weiliang YueDecember 18, 2025

The media could not be loaded. I purchased two identical keyboards from the same seller. At first, I assumed the issue was caused by a defective unit and decided to replace it. However, both keyboards have exactly the same problem. Almost every time I touch the keyboard for the first time, it immediately loses power and causes the screen to go black. I strongly believe this is most likely due to a capacitor or internal hardware defect, and the fact that two identical keyboards exhibit the same behavior clearly indicates a product issue. To further confirm this, I purchased the exact same keyboard directly from Razer’s official website, and it works perfectly without any issues at all. This clearly proves that the keyboards sold by this seller are defective. Read more

A great board were it $50 cheaper

Jonathan HNovember 18, 2024

I have had the privilege this year of being able to review both the blackwidow V4 and V4 pro models, and boy am I torn. I have written a review of the pro (feel free to check it out on my profile), so I am going to do my best to not compare them directly, and rather review the V4 standard in a vaccuum. To start, the board feels exactly like every other Razer keyboard I have ever owned; in other words, its pretty average. Typing on it is a little bit hollow feeling, and the sound profile from the all-plastic body leaves much to be desired if you are used to building your own. This is largely driven by the sub-par selection of switches and (moreso) keycaps that come stock with this board. I went through the effort of switching all of them out for better options, and the final product is GREATLY improved. I will give credit to the fact that Razer is finally letting us hot-swap, but thats industry standard at this point so its more like they finally caught up to the competition rather than doing something stand-out. While I cringe at the thought of $200 (or $300 for the pro model) for an all-plastic board, the build quality itself is excellent, and a reminder of why Razer has been on top for so long. The aesthetics of the board shape and textured designs on the back face are admittedly very snazzy and do a lot to make up for the cheap feel when picking it up. It has a nice gnarled volume knob with two analog buttons up top, all of which feel great to use and can be customized in the app. Add to this the included magnetic wrist-rest, and you can start to justify the price point a little better. Overall, the build quality and design are serious highlights of this board, and the primary reason I could see myself using it more. Then there is of course the Razer classics; RGBs and Razer Synapse. If you are an LED-head, you already know that Razer is king of making things light up. This board beams out colors and light while running and fits in great with a modern streamer battlestation. The lights and everything else can be customized in Razer Synapse which, while improved since past years, is still a horrendous disease on most computers. Some people will be turned off by the need to stay wired while using the board, and while its not a huge deal to me, it does feel like a bit of a relic in 2024. For me, I actually think this board is a better deal than the Pro model as its almost identical apart from wireless features and a pointless OLED screen. Is this the must-buy board of the year? No. Absolutely not. For $100, you can probably find similar if not better feeling boards that come with better stock switches and caps (although the RGB will not compare). If you buy this board will you regret it? Also no. Its definitely a steep asking price in such a crowded market, but Razer is as name-brand as it gets and this board definitely fits the bill for most people. Overall, this is a well-earned 4/5 for me; not perfect by any means, but definitely a board that could replace your current gaming peripheral if that time has finally come. Read more

Amazing quality with Orange switches for gamers that are also touch typists.

RickOctober 30, 2024

The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. I ordered this just to try out and because I enjoy PC gaming. I also have other Razer products so it all fits together for a nice Razer themed setup. The build quality of this keyboard is excellent. It feels heavy and solidly built. Every key and switch felt uniform and precise. Nothing felt loose or wobbly. The Tactile Orange switches felt really good to type on especially if you are a touch typist. Every piece of this keyboard feels like quality including the palm rest and USB cord. Note, that a key puller is included but I forgot to include it my pictures. To me, the Orange switches feel a lot similar to Cherry Brown switches which I also have used and like very much. Since this keyboard supports hot-swap switches you can try different switches. This review is based on the keyboard as is with the Tactile Orange switches. The RGB is nice and bright (controllable via software). I really like the under glow. The Razer apps offer a lot of customization options but can be a bit difficult to navigate because there are apps within apps and the menus can be overwhelming. The sound profile of the keys and switches are bit on the clicky side but not as bad as a blue switch. I do feel the tactile bump and just coming from linear switches in my previous keyboard, it is very noticeable. The only fault of this keyboard is a consequence of a compact layout, and not having dedicated keys for "home" and "end". The keys exist but you have to press the "fn" key to activate the "home" and "end" keys. This makes it a bit more difficult to use this keyboard for work. As a high-quality compact gaming keyboard, this Razer BlackWidow V4 is amazingly good but a bit expensive. Read more
