This scraper works great! We moved into this house a couple years ago and the windows were covered in lime build up from the sprinklers. My wife finally went out with a razor blade to clean them up and the difference was amazing. But it is a hard process with those little razor blades. This made the process so much easier! I would give this scraper 5 stars except for safety issues. Pro: It's inexpensive, feels good in the hand, and does a great job of scraping. Con: It would be VERY easy to slice your fingers to ribbons trying to insert the blade into this scraper. There are no assembly instructions or safety warnings at all, either on or inside the box. Unboxing and installing the blades is not easy. I strongly recommend wearing thick leather gardening gloves or other cut-proof gloves while assembling this scraper! You will almost certainly be sorry if you don't. Assembly instructions: First, you need to unlock the clamping jaws by pressing a button on top of the handle. However, when I did this, the jaws did not open widely enough to insert a blade. I needed to pry them farther apart with a screwdriver to disengage the blade locking tabs inside the jaws. Second, you need to remove a blade from the box of blades they have provided. The blades are all razor sharp and they stick together. Extracting one without wearing gloves is very risky. Third, I strongly recommend putting the provided blade edge guard over the sharp edge of the blade before continuing. Even doing this requires gloves for safety. It takes a little finesse to get the guard over the blade edge. Now you can put the blade into the jaws of the holder. You might need to wiggle it around a little to get it in the right position. Finally, press the tab on the underside of the handle to close the jaws and lock the blade in place. From there, you're golden. The scraper works great and did an excellent job of getting old tape and sticky spots off my kitchen window. Just be sure to put the blade's safety guard back on before you put the scraper away. When I say "great" I mean it. I have an in-ground pool and have used several types of scrapers to remove calcium buildup on tile - and NONE have worked as well as this one. (I've come across a treatment that will prevent that buildup going forward, but that is now and the problem was before.) The blades of this scraper are strong and DO NOT break easily, even on very hard to remove calcium on tile and grout. It is a great design that securely clamps onto the blades and does not let go until you change one. BUT, the blades are strong enough to last a long time. If you need a scraper for ANY application, get this one. You will not be disappointed. Read more
