So far I've tried the Astra SP, Derby Extra, Derby Prem. The Astra SP were the smoothest. The Derby Extra gave me the better overall shave. For someone who just recent switched from cartridge to wet shave DE and Leaf razor I found that the Astra SP were too smooth. The feedback I'm used to from a cartridge I was not getting. Although the razor was cutting wonderfully being a beginner I was just uncomfortable not receiving that feedback from my razor. I can see these with a little more experience will be a stable in my shave drawer. The Derby Extra wasn't as smooth but cut with ease and gave me the feed back I was looking for on my head. The Derby Premium was the milder of the blades and was a pretty balanced shave. The sharpness on all the blades tested seemed to be good. I'm a daily driver so it shouldn't have many problems. I intend to try the Prema-sharp LOI and Astra Stainless in the coming shaves. Can't speak to durability as I am narrowing blades and only giving 2 shaves per blade Update 6/24/24 Prema-sharp! This blade was the best out of the pack so far. Smooth with just the right amount of feed back. And only needed a 2pass shave to BBS shave. I found the Prema to be the most forgiving blade in the bunch, yet was extremely sharp. Even less irritation and nicks compared to the previous 3 mentioned. This was a very good value for the money. Most of these are priced in stores for one and u get an entire pack. Most of the razors I have never tried before this and now I have a better idea of which one I will buy in the future. Great purchase. Some of the razors aren’t that good, which is why I gave 4 stars no fault on buyer or the set. Just the brands. I would defiantly buy this again. Read more

I'm told different people will prefer/shave better with different blades, so many recommend starting with a blade sampler like this when picking up double-edge/safety-razor shaving so you can find what works for you. There's probably some truth to that, and honestly, as you get more comfortable shaving in general (if you're newer to it like myself), you may find a blade that nicked you the first time you tried it now works fine. I'm only about a third of the way through these, maybe less, so I'm not sure which blade I'll settle on in the end yet, but reviewing this as a pack, I'd give it 5 stars - there's some brands it is missing, obviously (Feather, for example), but given the price, this is a low-cost (my main goal) and easy way to test a few of the more widely available brands out before settling on which you want to use (at which point it is still much cheaper to buy a single brand in bulk, but this is still a good price compared to other variety packs).
