The media could not be loaded. We liked it so much we went and got a second one to be able to race. The Monster trucks are made very well and guarantee lots of fun. They are super easy to control with the remote. They truly can handle regular as well as water flodded terrain. They are super fast yet easily handled. I personally like that they are not as big as other similar cars. Which makes storage much easier. As you can see, our first one has lost some of its paint, but that has been the only issue, and does have no effect on the rest. All in all, this I fully can recommend this one! Read more

The media could not be loaded. I bought this RC truck for my son’s birthday, and it has become his favorite toy instantly. The power on this thing is amazing — it takes off fast, handles rough surfaces like grass and gravel, and the big tires make it super stable. What surprised me the most is how well it drives through water. We tested it on a shallow puddle in our driveway and it splashed right through without any issues! The controller is easy to use and very responsive. My son picked it up right away, and even I find myself wanting to drive it because it’s so fun. The build quality feels solid and durable, not like those cheap RC cars that break in a week. Battery life is also better than expected — plenty of time for play. The remote control feels comfortable to hold and has great range. Steering is smooth, and the truck responds quickly to every command. We’ve had a few accidental crashes and it’s held up really well, so durability is definitely a big plus. Highly recommend this for kids or even adults who want a fun, rugged RC truck! Read more

As an occasional 4x4 rock-crawling enthusiast, I thought it might be fun to get an RC vehicle that I could play with at home to keep that off-road spirit alive between visits to Moab. The Great Dachong Remote Control Monster Truck looked like it would be a capable model. The Great Dachong Monster Truck came in a cardboard product box along with the remote control, truck battery, charging cable, a small screwdriver and printed instructions. Everything looked to be of good quality. The battery has to be charged by plugging a small connector into the charger cable and plugging the charger into a USB power adapter. Once charged, I had to remove the battery from the charger, then remove a screw from the Monster Truck battery compartment cover, flip 4 levers, then remove the cover. Next, I had to connect the battery connector to a mating connector on a cable inside the battery compartment, push the battery in and re-install the battery cover and screw. I will have to follow this procedure every time the battery needs recharging (every 45-50 minutes of runtime). It would be substantially more convenient if they had designed it so that the battery could be recharged while it was inside the battery compartment, using a waterproof battery charging port. The remote control uses two AA batteries, which were not included. Once set up with the charged battery, I took the Monster Truck for a trial run. It was easy to control the speed and direction. Steering is accomplished by the wheels rotating opposite to the other side (like a tank) instead of turning the angle of the front wheels like a real truck. This steering method allows the user to spin the truck on its axis, but does limit the ability to do rock-crawling maneuvers where turning the front wheels would allow me to precisely place the wheels where needed, such as when traveling diagonally up a ledge to overcome the limited angle of approach due to the bumper overhang. The Monster Truck easily traveled over grass, dirt and pavement. It can also be used in mud and water, but I didn’t have a place to test that. I tested the remote control range to 100 feet and it was solid. I found that holding the remote in my left hand, pointed diagonally towards the right, made it more intuitive to turn the steering wheel with my right hand to steer the truck. The speed control range was okay for general play. For rock-crawling, more slow-speed control would be useful. Overall, the Monster Truck is fun to play with. It may not be the best choice for rock-crawling, though, but I didn’t downrate it for that since it isn’t marketed as a rock-crawler. I did downrate it one point due to the battery recharge hassle.
