Not Quite Glacier Goggles, But Still Awesome!

ObtuseAgletDecember 29, 2025

The media could not be loaded. YSK: These glasses tested well to block UV and blue light, and tested as polarized lenses. They also look cool and are built well, and should be worth the price if treated nice. The styling is pretty cool too. I have spent the better part of the last twenty years of my life outdoors, so sunglasses mean a lot to me. Really, what the most important thing for sunglasses to do (block UV) is what actually matters, followed closely by anything else that the manufacturer claims the sunglasses are meant to do. These sunglasses performed excellent in my real world testing (driving in the car during the day, sunrise, sunset, and walking at the local lake during sunset). They actively cut glare while driving, even on dirty windows, and cut glare as well as made the water more translucent during lake testing. When reviewing sunglasses I like to perform three controlled tests: 1. I check the polarization of the glasses using a polarization card. 2. I test the UV blocking properties of the glasses with a UV flashlight and a UV testing card. and 3. I check the blue light blocking properties of the glasses using a blue light laser. While all sunglasses don't promise all of these features, they are the three most common listed features on sunglasses, and so even if not promised, it is worth checking. 1. The glasses clearly displayed the polarized images on the polarization test cards. 2. The UV blocking was strong enough to not register on my UV test card from my UV flashlight when shone through the lenses at 2.5ft (the configuration distance for the card). 3. The lenses cut almost all of the blue light from my blue laser when shone through them. Overall, these are high quality sunglasses, and I definitely recommend them! Read more

Glasses Block Excess Light But Restrict Peripheral vision

KathyDecember 25, 2025

I tend to lose sunglasses, and I recently lost my favorite pair, so when I saw these AWGSEE Retro Polarized Sunglasses for Men & Women, I snapped them up. What attracted me was the dark lenses and the side ventilation panels, which looked like they would block excess light while preventing the lenses from fogging. The glasses do prevent most excess light from filtering in from the sides and they do not fog up, but the downside is that unlike wrap around glasses, the ventilation panels on these severely restrict peripheral vision. The glasses I lost were wrap arounds that also did not allow much light in around the edges, but they were suitable for almost anything, including driving and hiking. I don't like these for driving because they restrict peripheral vision, although they should be OK for hiking. The frames of these glasses feel solidly made yet have some give to them, so they should hold up well. The hinges look more robust than with some other inexpensive glasses, and I like the molded nose pieces that won't get bent out of shape. The lenses appear to be of reasonably high quality, as I do not notice any visual distortion. The styling is of course a matter of personal preference, but I feel they give a retro look as advertised without looking overly odd. Overall, I like the AWGSEE Retro Polarized Sunglasses for Men & Women, but I only give them four stars because while they are well made and block excess light without fogging, the design does severely limit peripheral vision. Retro Polarized Sunglasses

Cosmic ComicDecember 29, 2025

I ordered these retro polarized sunglasses for my wife as a Christmas present. She loves the purple-coated lenses with matching accents on the side pieces. These look cool and will work great for when we go to the lake, ocean or the mountains as they are polarized, which cuts glare dramatically, reducing fatigue as you don't have to squint. Of course, these offer UV protection as well as a medium gray tint. If you are in snowy places, these are invaluable, especially when its sunny, cutting the brightness and the glare so you can see easily. They even have generous sun blocking on the sides which include perforations to prevent fogging. Nice! They seem to have just the right amount of tension in the hinges and even included a dual-sided mini screwdriver to tighten or loosen the temples for a custom fit. Also includes a cleaning cloth and a soft carry bag. The earpieces flex and have a silicone coating that helps to keep the sunglasses in place, no matter what you are doing, although when boating or using our paddleboards, we always wear glasses retainers, so they never go into the lake. The photos didn't pick up the purple-colored mirror finish, but it's there. Recommended Read more

Functional Protection of the Eyes from UV Radiation

J. LewisJanuary 2, 2026

These sunglasses do a good job of shielding the wearer's eye from strong sunlight and its potentially damaging UV radiation. They're also light-weight making all-day wear comfortable. From a purely functional point of view these glasses do a valuable job. I'm limiting my favorable evaluation, however, to three stars -- defined as "OK" in the ratings system here -- on aesthetic grounds. These sunglasses are definitely functional but they really don't look like much in my humble opinion. The plastic frames look rather down-market, to put as it politely as I can. Still, at just sixteen bucks as of this writing, one shouldn't expect too much beyond the functionally which these do have. I definitely would recommend them for casual outdoor activity and exercise but don't wear them to your next upscale pool party. Read more

Not bad

brainDecember 30, 2025

Not a bad pair of glasses for the price. The polarized lenses effectively cut glare, the frame is light and comfortable, and it comes with some nice accessories. The style isn't quite what I hoped. The side shields feel a little too big to be fashionable, but a little too small to provide extra protection. Still, an ok pair to leave in a glove box or jacket pocket. Read more
