My mom has made many a large side in this thing. Meatballs, beans anything really. We have big ones but they are often heavy and a pain saved for parties. This size is her favorite and she uses it weekly. However the non removable crock does get obnoxious. But then again you dont have to worry about underside drippings. Personally I am buying the same size and brand but with removable crock of course. Read more

Few things beat a crock pot for stews, roasts or chicken. When I still had 4 kids around, I used the big one regularly, but when they were gone, it got put towards the back of the cupboard. This crock pot cooks at 200 degrees, not really slow at all. I've tried using it for all day recipes but it will boil the food. Best to be used for keeping soup hot on a buffet table. Read more
