This keyboard sounds awesome. It has that deep, satisfying “thock” sound when you type that just feels really nice. For the price, it feels way more high end than I expected. I also really like the volume knob. It’s metal, feels solid, and you can press it to mute sound, which is super handy. I do miss having a number pad, but since the keyboard is smaller it takes up way less space on my desk, so that’s a fair trade. Overall, it’s a great keyboard and totally worth the money. Read more

I was skeptical, for the price point I wasn't expecting the best but what sold me was the layout of the keys. I type most of the day, needed a keyboard that stayed out of my way as i export default function. The arrow key placement was just what I was looking for, quick to access without fat fingering other keys. I'm detoxing from a Keychron K3 Version 2 low profile setup. This R65 is like a hot shower on a cold day, easy to slip into. The feel when typing is very satisfying, typing this review is not annoying, as it would be with the K3. So, when the description said this keyboard is creamy, I'd have to say it is, although that's a terrible way to describe a keyboard, but w/e, they ain't wrong. Construction is solid, just enough weight to stick to the desk, you can't easily push it around when slamming the return key on that wall of text you wrote for that reddit post that nobody will upvote. In a nutshell, good keyboard, good price, bad backlight in the sense that i can't see the letters in the dark. I say this for those who are level 1 in typing, where you need to glance at the keyboard to find your letters. But, for those who can type without looking, the backlight is fine, gotta cool glow to it. Alright, enough with the review, I got a craving for some ice cream. Read more

Overall, this is a great mid tier keyboard that avoids the “gamer” look, as well as provides full customization and functionality one would need. There are minor nitpicks I have with it, but for the price, you can’t go wrong. Do note that actually getting software for the keyboard is a bit more challenging if you don’t know what you’re doing, so there is a learning curve for newcomers as the site itself doesn’t have much information. The keyboard does have some flex around the edges and thus gives it a slight mushy and not so sturdy feeling, though that is expected for the price point. The key caps are nice, though due to their concave shape, the light shining on them may make it visually look as if the letters are off center even though they aren’t. Not an issue but rather something for buyers to consider. The knob works excellently. I opted into turning it into a brightness knob instead of a volume knob due to the fact that I already have a volume knob on my audio interface. Works as expected. The sound of the key presses is nice, not too loud, not too quiet. Overall. I would recommend this keyboard to anyone that is looking for something within this price point. Read more

Awesome keyboard for the price. It has a nice "creamy" sound. I've never tried cream switches before (I usually do browns), but I really like these. If you want a keyboard that sounds and feels amazing out of the box, get this. I've bought many keyboards. So far this was the best sound and feel out of the box so far..... My *only* gripe is that if you use the tilda ~ key a lot (for programmers and unix users) you will be pressing the function "Fn" key a *lot*..... Not a big problem, but a small nuisance. Of course, you can still mod it. I chose to change out some switches for different parts of the keyboard (to vary up the feel in different spots). You don't need to to a lot of modding because these are already done for you: gasket mod, bottom fill mod (already has two layers: foam on top of a hard gel), PCB mod (there's a very thin layer on top of the circuit board). The stabilizers are decent (i.e. I didn't notice them, which is good). If you wanted to go overboard (like me) and do more mods (unnecessary, but to your preference) you can do these: extra layer on the PCB, ring mod around keycap stems, glue mod (kid's glue to fill inside some keycaps), tape mod (on bottom side of PCB), etc, BUT most of these will have very little gain for the effort. It already sounds/feels good. Read more
