I'm really happy with this rolling knife sharoener. It feels solid, looks great on the counter, and is very easy to use- place the magnetic angle block to the knife, choose 15 or 20 degrees, and roll. The knife stay in place, so it feels and controlled. In just a faw minutes my knives were noticeably sharper. Cutting meat is easier and vegtables slice cleanly. The coarse to fine to finish steps give consistent results. Fast, simple, and it actually works- highly recommended. Read more

This sharpener looks great with it's walnut and steel construction with a pair of ball bearings keeping the rolling movement smooth. You shouldn't be using it near any food so it will stay clean for a long time. The multiple sharpening surfaces offer great options depending on how far gone your edge is. I already had a manual 2 ceramic wheel sharpener that works well (Minosharp) but it's a little finicky at times and can take a while. I wanted to try this as it's been recommended to me frequently. I stuck with the 600 and 1000 grit wheels since my knives didn't require the aggressive 240 grit wheel. Finding your blade angle is the most difficult part. I had no idea anymore what mine were so I tried both angles until I could sight down the edge and it lined up with the drum surface. Sharpening was easy. Use the sound of the wheels as a guide to how far you've sharpened the edge, it'll start out rough and grating then quiet down as less material is taken away and the edge is coming into the proper profile. It's especially noticeable with the 1000 grit wheel. You will still need a honing steel to finish off the edge after sharpening. You should not be sharpening your knives frequently, you should be honing them with a steel. Only sharpen your knives if honing does not regain the edge that you require. And do not use a diamond coated 'honing steel' as you have no control over the edge angle and it is very, very easy to ruin a knife that way. That said I have a couple of issues with this product. The wheel height is a limiting factor as the working diameter is something just under 2" although I would recommend not exceeding a vertical height of 1.75" while sharpening. This excludes sharpening my Messermeister and even my Furi Coppertail couldn't be fully sharpened near the handle. The other is the price. While it's a high quality product there are other options out there for less money that perform similar functions. At $100 this one seems near the top of the market and, while it's a great sharpener, I'm not sure it commands that kind of price premium. Read more

I was super excited for this sharpener, but in the end I must admit I'm disappointed. The quality of everything is superb. It's the design that's the issue. All materials here are super nice. The wood is beautiful. The weight of the roller is honestly rather exquisite. It rolls perfectly and evenly on the rubber rings. The sharpening discs feel well made and seem to grind smoothly. The ball bearings in the roller are just lovely. The knives I was actually able to sharpen with it did get very sharp...a little bit better than my mid-priced electric sharpener I was looking to replace. The issue for me here was design. This sharpener only works with wide knives that are taller than the base and have straight backs and handles that are straight or curve towards the blade. If the knife blade tapers too much in terms of thickness, this is also a problem. Essentially, any deviation on the knife that doesn't allow you to put it flat on a table and still have the knife rise above the base while running the roller past means that you aren't going to be able to sharpen that knife. I have a number of paring knives and longer narrower knives, and there is just no way for you to safely and accurately sharpen those. A knife sharpener that can only work on the wide knives just doesn't work for me. Read more
